  1. that last, much cleaner one, went for $1000, I didn't even bid
  2. i don't have a four andantes still, you're thinking of someone else. i saw that one that was just on ebay, i had a $500 snipe and I thought that was over the top in that condition, look what happened with that.
  3. i agree, the record was listed accurately and in a detailed manner by an honest seller, who's taking who for a ride?
  4. sorry... i didn't say how you can see the high bidder though so he's still missing that critical piece...
  5. if you get a bid in you can see the high bidder
  6. just a random note, a reformed contours with dennis edwards did record a good modern record "I'm a winner" in 1979 released on two labels...
  7. i misread your post, you said "red and black" as one label (I haven't seen a black label either, just the red and cream). So I don't think there's a blue or a black label.
  8. this is from the TV show "something else" in 1970. wait until 40 seconds in when the camera cuts back from general johnson.
  9. thanks as always for listening
  10. if someone is posting an mp3 link they are giving someone the option of downloading the original mp3, for example, to play on their ipod. that embedded player doesn't have that option. can that option be added? if not, people probably wouldn't want to use it as it would be removing options for listeners unless they wanted to post the mp3 link and also use the embedded player on top of the mp3 link.
  11. quote name='steveluigi' date='27 November 2009 - 02:23 AM' timestamp='1259288613' post='1203047'] I know it's not rare, but some records just look beautiful, and this is one of them. I picked it up from the States for $2 and I think it's worth $100, not in value, just for the looks. And the tune is out of this world too. Stunning vocals stunning lyrics and stunning arrangement. Definitely one of my all time favorite Motown tracks. More Love
  12. that is not the same tamboo label, that fabulous emotions is a philly record
  13. i have it on the cream colored label. i haven't seen blue, it could be a poor scan of the black?
  14. i don't hear scratches when they play this on the radio... probably off an mp3 ripped from a cd!
  15. comes up occasionally on curtom, i don't think i've seen it on wand.
  16. well there's not a track by the combinations called "like I never did before" either on kellmac so was he covering up a cover up with another cover up? the flip of "whatcha gonna do" is a ballad called "good bye".
  17. i could only hear about 10 seconds of it, not enough to tell whether i should buy it or not. are the controllers only two guys now?

if you want to quibble over the semantics over my post, that is what I said. the point of my post and what I was writing was that I never had to worry about buying bootlegs until I started buying internationally. When I was selling at the soultrip it was funny, people were inspecting my records to see if they were originals, I'm sure it's a whole different world over there, but my trashed chicago 45s that I was selling were definitely not bootlegs. George G said in 30 years he maybe found 5 bootlegs, I'm sure some bootlegs got here somehow, but it is very very rare. We invented record bootlegging with the doowop market but nobody in the US bootlegged soul in general unless it had some doowop (or maybe motown) interest.

the fact that it was pressed in the US for people in the UK doesn't mean that it was distributed in the US

you can obviously easily tell the difference if you know that there is a boot and to look out for the boot. the high bidder obviously did not know that. not everybody lives in your world of bootlegs. When I started bidding on ebay I got burned a few times because I wasn't used to buying from international dealers, in the US I don't have to deal with the risk of bootlegs since northern soul wasn't booted in the US. Now I know better. This was probably an expensive lesson for the buyer.

well this might be the first time that this buyer will be bitten, and it will be expensive for them
