  1. I doubt the seller downgraded for the drill hole, especially if it was graded as you describe. It was probably just a very conservative grader.
  2. sounds awesome, can you post audio in refosoul?
  3. I don't think the original 70s release was a bootleg, "smokin cheeba" came out on paul winley originally.
  4. I think there was a more recent bootleg (like a lookalike scorpio records type of thing from the 90s) to cash in on the popularity of the harlem underground band "smokin cheeba" which is also on that album. I think the original was released to cash in on his name more than the reissue.
  5. I've seen it on ebay at least 4 times. It almost always sold for under $30 hence no popsike. It's still pretty rare and $5000 records have sold for under $30 until they were "known". I personally don't think the record is that great though, can't imagine it becoming a monster.
  6. This is a Chicago / St. Louis record. Pretty hard to find but I've never seen it sell for much more than $50.
  7. Hi. Yesterday on my radio show I interviewed legendary Chicago blues / soul singer Syl Johnson. Syl talks about his career as well as a new singer he's promoting. You can check out the interview at the bottom of my interviews page at: https://www.sittingin...interviews.html thanks, Bob
  8. i think Motown is particularly litigious
  9. Isn't there a case of Motown suing either a book or website or something for the use of label designs (unaltered, just publishing them even) or maybe it was album art? Sorry for the vague information, maybe someone else can fill in more details if this is a real thing I'm talking about.
  10. thanks to another friendly user here I just bought a copy online on UK GTO 7". Thanks again.
  11. This record wasn't released in the US on a 7", only on 12". Was this released in any other country on 7"? I'd like to have it on 7", I used to always turn up the radio when it was on and play it off the album at home but I sold the album for some reason and don't collect LPs anymore. Thanks.
  12. it still worked for me about a week ago, i found that a record I thought about buying a double of had like 80 copies in stock. the only way they could remove the option anyways would be to not allow buying more than one of an item or to not display how many items were available if you guessed over, but then you could guess at the number until you hit it anyways.
  13. I think the pendulum swingers were the vocal group and the case band were the band. brian poust should have more info.
  14. The case band have a weak modern record from the early 80s. The record you are asking about came out twice on two labels, it also came out on great world of sound I think.
  15. thanks again for being a regular listener, i appreciate it
  16. Nice. Surprisingly ended up being a real name too and she somehow ended up keeping that name!
  17. dave, i have some of the other bob and gene titles that look mint and play poorly, i think modo had some pressing or mastering issues
  18. how is that different from soul source now?
  19. Thanks for the explanation, I appreciate it. Is there a youtube video where I can see shuffling? I doubt any fraudulent actual bidding in the real auction which is what made the second bump post silly -- at a certain point an auction ceases to be "underground" and all the high rollers have seen it and it's going to take on whatever value it's going to take on.
  20. I was asking an honest question when i said I liked the record but didn't understand the record being played. Would you dance to it?
  21. thanks, I don't even know the billy harner #, my collecting skills are failing!
  22. I just listened to this again, I actually really like the b-side despite the weak group. I don't understand northern enough to understand how it works played out though, it doesn't sound very danceable and the rhythm section is very subdued. The a-side is very funky, I could see that being played but I guess you guys are saying that's not the side people want to hear.
  23. Can anyone tell me if they've ever seen the record by Jana ("your love is indescribably delicious") as a stock/issue copy with a b-side and not as a mono/stereo promo? Every other sound gems record I've seen has been available as stock but I haven't seen this one as stock. Thanks in advance.
  24. or at least come up with a better line if you are shilling it and want people to see it, especially if you're gonna be like "my $50 bid won't win it!" If you wanted to win it, why did you come out on a public forum and post before it was at $50 then? I agree with Dave on the rarity though, I haven't seen this before. Not exactly my sound so it could have slipped under my radar, as it's not like a straight group record (does have a group on it though). I think more copies might come out but it won't prove to be common.
