  1. I'm pretty sure they are from new york, my friend in new york talked to one of them, I have a photo somewhere. i have more history somewhere in some notes, they are connected to another group also from new york.
  2. it is numero's reissue, definitely obvious as it's reissued on a red label so you probably won't get burnt if you see it at least.

I'm the one who complained about your previous thread. All you did was constantly bump it with BS chatter from you and your cohost so it would appear on the front page of the forums even though it's a once weekly show that people can only listen to live. Your constant bumps added no new content to the thread and nobody posted in the thread except you and your cohost. I hope you don't do the same with this new thread, nobody else in the video/radio forum feels the need to ruin it for everyone else except you and your cohost.
  4. I assume jts is looking for the rare vocal version of "i need love" with "are we through" on the flip, not the instrumental pt. 1 and pt. 2 that funkyou has up
  5. not true, as evidenced by other examples in this thread and pretty much any interaction i ever have with record dealers. your example of john manship's website not having an automated offer system is not proof that "it only happens here". if you don't want offers, put "no offers" in your listing as again, it's expected in record buying.
  6. in my experience haggling is expected in the record world, it's something you learn the first record show you go to (in the US at least) and it translates to online world also (especially when people's prices are high).
  7. i would pay to get a good quality copy of the whole show which is amazing
  8. thanks to Colton Thomas for sending me this. Go here: https://abj.matrix.msu.edu/videofull.php?id=29-DF-1B and go to 23 minutes in (the footage starts at 24). They do come on back and the love I found in you. Totally amazing.
  9. they have unreleased material on stang and a bunch more random singles. listen to my interview with jimmy mayes at https://www.sittinginthepark.com/interviews.html , jimmy is a cool guy with a cool story. he got onto stang because he knew al goodman from back in MS (which is where the name of the group comes from).
  10. the funk side sounds like a weak temptations copy sound and i collect sweet soul and i don't really like the sweet side. for me it's cool to have given that "the echo" is such an awesome record.
  11. i couldn't watch this because it says only people in the uk are allowed to view it, but there is a really nice invictus label documentary that got shown on PBS in the US a bunch of times. Don't know if that's what you linked or not.
  12. neither side very good but a very hard record. the last copy on ebay in 2007 went for over $700 (not trashed though) and it IS in popsike. type in epsilons, it's the first record that comes up. I got the previous ebay copy a few years before for $100. very rarely comes up for sale.
  13. everything tastes better fried
  14. I see why I didn't bid now. Soul Harmony Singles lists a second Ovations as "You keep me hanging on" / "The plummer". So i assumed it came out as stock. What's weird is the book lists it as 2172 not 2176, which is probably a mistake because it's a Solomon Burke record? There is some crazy info in the book, for example, there is a Motown number not listed in the Barlette book, a second Third Creation 45. Where did they get that number?
  15. I'm think the yellow came out first as all the all the other philspectrum labels are colored. If you send me audio I will compare it to my yellow copy. I lost the multicolored copy on ebay for $50 within the last year, I don't know if that gives you a value or not. The yellow one is in demand and in manship's rare soul book. If the multicolored is the same recording, it should also be in demand, if it is a worse recording or more common somehow, it should be worth less.
  16. Thanks, I saw the craig moerer auction when it was up but didn't realize it was a missing number on soufulkindamusic and didn't bid because it wasn't a stock copy with both sides. I got confused because I still don't even have the 2166 ovations as a stock copy with the flip. I guess that 2176 only exists as a promo. Do you know the 5 other masters that were rejected that I guess are numbers that didn't come out? I guess this is officially documented somewhere? Thanks.
  17. also, not every title came out, at least I'm pretty sure this doesn't exist: 2038 - The Starlettes - I Wanna Be Good To You / Watered Down - 1968 and this doesn't exist: 2083 - The Radiants - I'm So Glad I'm A Loser / Shadow Of A Doubt - 1970
  18. also, maybe some of the question mark numbers here: https://www.soulfulkindamusic.net/chess.htm are other label releases with chess distribution... I will be on the lookout now.
  19. no, good catch. I just checked and I have the Chess 1967 big maybelle title but the 1969 title has to be another label (Rojac) using a chess number.
  20. thanks, I knew that wurds number (but don't own it as a casual soul collector as I haven't found it for cheap and don't want to pay real money). I don't know anything about garage but one of the dirty wurds did a logo for me recently and i also recently met another one at a restaurant i was eating at (I went up and talked to him when i heard him talking about chess records).

  22. Label name is "KOHOUTECH RECORDINGS". Label says KOH-111. Side a is "FINDING YOU". I can't find my notes of the b-side but I have full audio of both sides somewhere, am looking.
  23. thanks a lot, I never knew about these, and I see they use the same chess numbers also. The other label that never had a chess release that I know of was the Matta Baby on Penny, and on that label it's also a chess number. Anybody know any other labels on the Chess discography besides Magic Touch, Lakeside, and Penny that never came out on Chess? Thanks.
  24. I asked before about some records that show up in the chess discography that I'm pretty sure don't exist. I was looking at this Magic Touch record: https://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=190404769397 and I noticed that it not only said distributed by Chess but has the same chess number that appears in the discography. I bet that a bunch of the numbers never came out on Chess but came out on other labels like Magic Touch with chess numbers on them. I know there were records that came out on earlier labels that were bought by chess (like the Sunday and Denise Lasalle). Those cases are different and in those cases the stampers were reused (with the original label info crossed off in the deadwax) and the records actually came out on chess. In the cases I'm talking about, the record never actually came out on Chess. Probably the whole Magic Touch 2000 series are Chess #s that never came out on Chess. Anyways, I'm just sharing, I don't know if anyone else has more input. It would be cool if there were an accurate discography saying what numbers came out on other labels only or possibly never came out.
  25. I just looked at that CD. Not that I care at $5 (who's making money???), but it's clearly a bootleg (apparent by a bunch of the tracks). That's not surprising but why does it say Sony in the bottom? It's not actually produced or distributed by Sony is it?
