  1. I have the full twinight label run actually (including the Velma Perkins), some day I will scan it and post it. I got the last record I needed (a rock record by the Rooks) about a year or two ago. The Jo Ann Garrett was never pressed. Here are the twinight artists I've interviewed: The Notations, The Mist, Elvin Spencer, Dynamic Tints, Kaldirons, Mystiques, Renaldo Domino, Syl Johnson.
  2. I asked Jeff Beckman and he also agreed with you, he sent me an extensive listing including another Tommy Tate and the Dolletts record on ABC and connected the group to Tommy and the Derbys and the Poppies also. Thanks a lot.
  3. one more follow up, Allmusic.com gives a detailed story about the poppies and dorothy moore being a high school group from Jackson, MS. It seems doubtful that she was in the ABC group who I think were from the bay area. Maybe she was just previously in a group called "the dolletts" and somebody assumed it was the same group as on ABC?
  4. just to follow up, I found "believe it or not" in an Andy Rix mix in refosoul: /more/soul-library/23711-various-andy-rix-session-5-sep-2000/ I'm confused because a) the sound quality sounds clear and b) it says that Dorothy Moore is lead and it's a version of the poppies. I thought Ella Thomas was lead of the group (it's definitely the same bay area group as on GD&L at least, E Thomas is credited on the ABC 45 I have). What's with the Dorothy Moore / Poppies thing? Thanks.
  5. soul harmony singles lists the following record by the Dollettes that i've never seen: ABC 10627 - Believe it or not / I'm a lonely girl Manship guide 5 doesn't list it but strangely manship guide 2 lists it with a comment about it being poor sound quality. Does anybody have a copy of this? If so, any chance of a post in refosoul? is this record very rare or have I just been unlucky? thanks.
  6. I'm think it's been on ebay since popsike, I vaguely remember it being there once, popsike doesn't list everything. I remember seeing a red copy but I'm also not 100% sure. I think the only twinight records that never came as stock were the Perfections and Velma Perkins, the rarest two on the label.
  7. there is a bunch of info on an old chex reissue LP, I think someone posted the info from it before. if you search you might find it.
  8. I don't think this is a "known copies" type of thing, but it does come up for sale almost never
  9. I once managed to insure a record global express USPS and get it past the office with a low customs. I imagine if a claim actually had come up it might be an issue. Maybe sending UPS or DHL or FedEx would allow avoiding customs?
  10. there has been at least one mint one and craig moerer was "clean VG" which is pretty clean by his standards. it is usually beat though.

  12. very hard to find (and a different mix than the LP) but on ebay only goes for $50-$100, craig moerer got $50 in february.
  13. the emulations is muffled on the record. hard road maybe $300?
  14. i don't know if you think you found a diamond or something, but there is an unsold copy on gemm for $8, and that seems high.
  15. this video first was released when he was actively trying to sell his collection and there were news stories about it. what's funny was that a news story actually pointed out that his "$6,000-$10,000" rolling stones record was available sealed BIN on ebay at the same time for $600.
  16. in my experience the promos are more common, craig moerer had a bunch in stock at least a couple years ago. I think they were $15.
  17. In the US I have seen lots of pink copies, I definitely don't think all pink copies are boots. Maybe the ink was running low at the printers on this copy? The paper looks different than other pink copies I've seen too though but maybe it's the scan.

  19. I don't see how it could be fake given that the ZTSC number matches definitely original copies and that's exactly what's stamped in the deadwax. Seems like a hard thing to fake.
  20. no probs, I lose enough money already on ebay. that seller is a conservative grader too, you should do alright with it.

  22. you outbid me on this...
  23. I just wrote a long reply but erased it, since I have nothing nice to say about the book I'll keep quiet about it and I shouldn't have posted in the first place (but I don't feel I'm being pedantic or nitpicky). I have helped a lot with the new volume of soul harmony singles, which should hopefully be out soon and should be pretty excellent, should be double the size of the first one. Obviously there will be some mistakes in that too but not on the same scale. Thanks.
  24. michael hudson is the name of the kiddie artist
