this makes me feel better like it's not just me or not just chicago. there are all these cops with dogs at all the subway stops now, I thought maybe it was a terrorism alert related thing in chicago. maybe the royal mail tracking is just useless.

ok thanks for the reply. part of the reason I'm worried though is that the royal mail tracking says that the package has been passed to the US (but the US tracking says it hasn't received anything). If you're correct, I guess the royal mail tracking website is wrong. Thanks.

So I have at least 7 packages that I've ordered from the UK since 11/24/2010 and none have arrived yet. I haven't had other problems with mail, and have gotten all my other packages, including ones from other countries. Two of the pricier items were sent registered. For both of those, if I put in the number into the royal mail website, I get a message like the one below. If I put in the tracking numbers into www.usps.com, one of them just says "origin post is preparing shipment" and the other one doesn't show up at all. I am getting nervous as, at least for the one posted first, it has almost been a month and the websites don't give any meaningful tracking. Does anyone know if there are currently significant delays in shipping from the UK to the US? Maybe something to do with terror alerts slowing things down? Does anyone have any specific advice for me? As it is, I have no idea whether the packages are even in the US or UK as the UK site says it's in the US and the US site (for one of the packages anyways) says it's in the UK. Thanks in advance. I have been ripped off with boots actually, from buying from overseas sellers before having a bootleg guide. Whether someone can rip me off versus getting over the entire record collecting community on a $$$$ record is a different matter though. Look at what recently happened with the robbie lawson counterfeit. People here are so suspicious that they say real records (such as the archer stamped four tracks) are fake.

the sweet and innocent was a reissue done by the seller. originals are worth more.

you keep changing the scenario. first you are talking about the four tracks being counterfeited. Then you say it must be a record that doesn't have a deadwax stamp. The four tracks has a deadwax stamp so it's not that. Then you say it will be a different kind of vinyl and look than existing copies, but you will use the excuse that it came from some other pressing plant (even though people do have good knowledge about the different plants). Are you saying that a newly discovered pressing run of an expensive record that is somehow different than all existing presses won't be suspicious as long as the seller makes up an excuse?

do you have it with the pic sleeve?

It's probably harder now than it was 25 years ago, it's not like we've made new advances in vinyl technology

sorry to cause confusion. all I can say is that I went through all my records that were in paper sleeves lined with plastic inside and some of them definitely had a weird "streaking" effect on the vinyl that looked to be the start of a more destroyed record

I think it actually goes through the paper also, a bunch of the records in the other message board thread were examples of the plastic leeching through picture sleeves.

I don't understand the conditions that makes the plastic leech off, all I know is that I freaked out after reading this: https://waxidermy.com/bbs/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=28401 I went through my collection and removed all the poly lined sleeves from the 45s. Most looked fine. Some had the start of some sort of broad streaking on the vinyl or styrene that looked like the start of what was in that thread. I don't know what particular environmental conditions cause this problem but I don't want to risk it.

I don't understand why so many UK people put their 45s directly into card sleeves (without a paper sleeve first). The 45s rattle around and get scuffed up. I also wouldn't recommend the poly lined inner sleeves, the plastic leeches off and ruins the vinyl over time.

I think that has to do with the quality of this record and not salesmanship. it will go back up too after he runs out, it probably will never be $4000 again though.

they exist but were never distributed, label owner bruce clarke sold them out of his house to mainly japanese buyers that came over. my friend saw them at his house, he had them framed on his wall but didn't have any left to sell.

I think you should not ask as I've found the success rate on obscure wants here is pretty low anyways

I wonder if the same dilemma would exist if you had wanted to list an item for more instead of less. I think you should go ahead and list an item at a fair price and that if another seller has it too high that's their problem. I don't see why the etiquette of the board should favor gouging people.
