  1. i like the old 7up bottles
  2. it was a tiny independent release. other groups had small independent releases before their budweiser showdown releases -- for example prasz, as well as a couple of others. Given that it's not out of the question that they would reuse a recording from a few years before. I don't know if this is actually what happened or not, just saying it's possible.
  3. yes, it came out on both labels and the backing track was also used on the sounds of dawn "how many times". thanks again for listening. i think this is a particularly good show if people want to check it out. thanks again.

  7. Robb: when did Don Davis pass away? I was corresponding with Graham F. recently and he though that Don was still alive. There definitely wasn't any noise here about it. Thanks in advance for the info.
  8. The article doesn't say it's the rarest 78, there's two known copies and Tefteller talks about how there are many #s that were pressed but have no known copies. It's just possibly the most a 78 has sold for. Tefteller used to actively insult soul buyers in his discoveries columns.
  9. having or even owning the physical tapes doesn't mean that they purchased the rights to them.
  10. i would guess that don davis owns the master?
  11. tracking is supposedly implemented for first class international, you don't need it registered. not saying it actually works, just letting you know.
  12. it shows up in chicago occasionally, it's the same group as essence on epic
  13. how long ago was the date it said they left the USA? did you also try putting the tracking into the UK royal post site?
  14. if they were sent from the US recently they should include tracking. asks for the tracking number from the receipt, which is the same as the customs number. even better, ask for a scan of the receipt.
  15. it's a CD from 2007. you can buy the CD or MP3...
  16. what is the flip of the exquisites "just couldn't make it"? is it the same track or is it the instrumental?
  17. also if you listen to the lyrics he says "I had a good time when I was in KC". He's talking about going back to a girl he had in Houston. The group is from KC, they were just doing shows in TX for a while.
  18. there were a lot of releases on Kool
  19. they actually have two texas releases, they have another 45 on ty tex. if you look at the writing credits you will see Gadson's there. they were a touring revue.
  20. this group has nothing to do with the tommy tate group, this is the kansas city tommy and the derby's that have 5 45s (all obscure / rare). they had a revue that included marva whitney before she recorded, the del montes (who became the visitors on dakar), the sinceres (who later recorded on pzazz and became bloodstone), etc.
  21. i really don't think you could compare this to mary wells, they're not even the same style of music. it is a nice version.
  22. it's a motown standard, there's at least half a dozen versions.
  23. just to confirm, syreeta is rita wright. i played this track on my radio show 3 days ago: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=43r63WyyS9I
  24. I'm sure copies sold privately, was just talking about ebay
  25. Hi. I did a unique and interesting radio show on Sunday. I started off with a set of midtempo ‘60s northern and sweet soul, starting with a new track by the Impressions done in a ‘60s throwback style with a real band and arrangements by Johnny Pate. I then did a special half hour deep soul with a beat set and finished the show with a half hour steppers set. You can check out the show at: https://www.sittinginthepark.com/10-6-2013.mp3? You can listen to other shows and interviews with Chicago groups by going to my main page www.sittinginthepark.com Also, if someone you know wants to subscribe to this email list, they can add themselves at the following URL: https://eepurl.com/n7Qr5 Playlist follows and I hope you enjoy the show.
