  1. I'm pretty sure the copy on ebay is the one that was sold here
  2. The fania discography is so large that there are tons of holes in the discography where collectors haven't even been able to fill in the unknown numbers (even in the early gold range). I imagine one of those titles that is unknown is the "rarest". I don't know if they are any good though.
  3. I obviously take collecting originals seriously, I have spent all my money on it, more than I've spent on my condo. But if you can't find the humor in a thread where people are literally going back and forth accusing each other of having/collecting presses, as it's the worst insult in the world, that is sort of sad.
  4. also here is the cirque du soleil "ovo" show I was talking about: https://www.cirquedusoleil.com/en/shows/ovo/tickets/chicago.aspx?cid=ksm/OVO/Chicago/adgroup/google/branded/OVO&pcid=OVO some of you people should try to dj for their show
  5. The purpose of my post was not to start a debate. People need to stop taking themselves so seriously. I collect "original vinyl" but I realize it's not a life or death thing.
  6. I can't tell if you're calling me a twat, but if you are, YOUR MOM DJS WITH PRESSINGS
  7. I love how budget and real that jb rollerskating video looks
  8. I don't understand why the people defending the seller keep saying it was a mistake. It obviously was a mistake. Nobody is saying it wasn't a mistake. What's lame is the lying (via direct email) and then stealing the 5 pounds and not refunding.
  9. Arguing about "OVO" is already sort of silly, but using it as a horrible insult is next level and pretty funny. Also, I think that nonsense fills much more than a "small part" of my brain, all I think about is records. I think part of the reason I don't care that much about "pressings" is that I don't care much about the records that have been bootlegged. The vast majority of records I play or would want to hear weren't bootlegged anyways (or at least, not bootlegged onto vinyl).
  10. I'm an obsessive collector that only collects original vinyl. I'm just self-aware enough to realize that it's kind of a silly point to argue about.
  11. I actually am a lacto-ovo vegetarian (just "vegetarian" for short).
  12. awesome, you just used "pressing buyers" as an insult in this thread.
  13. It starts with you getting OVO and after a while you develop into a full blown DJ.
  14. Age record is cheap, maybe $10-$15? It's really good R&B but it's not rare because it was a local hit.
  15. So when people say it out loud do they say "oh-voh" or do they say "oh-vee-oh'?

  17. I love how the worst thing you can say to someone on soul source is "your box is full of pressings". It's somehow ten times worse than insulting someone's mother. I can't believe I just read a thread that was like "you have pressings!" "NO YOU have pressings!" Also, in Chicago, there is a new Cirque du Soleil show called "ovo" with billboards and TV ads. I laugh and think of soul source every time I see it.
  18. the chandlers on col soul does have two presses, one with the label indented around the rim and the other not. It's the same as the one on bleu rose. For some reason manship guide says one of the blue rose presses is expensive and the other isn't, but doesn't make the same distinction for the col soul record.
  19. I'm pretty sure william bell was a member of the del-rios
  20. I really like both sides of this record a lot, this doesn't come up for sale very often but isn't a "known" expensive record. Jeff Smith was previously in the Chandlers.
  21. this record was a big hit. that is a reissue label (despite someone writing a '65 date on the label). it looks like your sleeve also says so.
  22. This is not true. I read this here and announced it once on my radio show and was embarassed later. Anyways, the lead singer of Kings Go Forth is Black (and his name is "Black Wolf") and was part of some soul groups that didn't record in Milwaukee in the 70s.
  23. OK thanks for the explanation. I think I'm out of my expertise in this subject material so I don't have a further opinion that what I said already. unrelated, the flip of that Black Aces of Soul is really nice sweet soul (I think it's the a-side actually).
  24. I would love to hear the unreleased stylistics 45. Marty Bryant supposedly did a whole unreleased LP on the stylistics. He also did the Precisions on Hen-mar and the first Sister Sledge 45 on Money Back.
  25. Robb, are you sure that royal spades is an acetate? It looks identical to the pressed record I have (labels are the same) and I can even see deadwax markings. I will try to scan some acetates later for this thread
