  1. he used to come to the Chicago record shows, he always had a different tye-died shirt and a ponytail
  2. stuff always goes under the radar and sweet soul people get into bidding wars. also stuff tends to go out of fashion quickly as lots of people don't want records as soon as they are bootlegged on cd comps or widely known.
  3. this was always a cheap record with some stock floating around. then in the last few years the record became in demand with sweet soul collectors and the stock had already dried up. this caused the increase in prices.
  4. I think the orange is also a US press
  5. both sides killer
  6. I would totally buy an android version
  7. maybe, but I don't know what's different from this listing compared to hundreds of other ebay auctions at any given time
  8. yes. butch and the newports are exactly the same group as the gaslight. The young sirs (which is earlier), has two common members, but butch (oliver cheatham) was a member.
  9. "hard times" is unreleased, would love to hear it. The other came out on TEAI and then Polydor. I got an awesome young sirs photo from one of the members, the young sirs became the gaslight.
  10. cavaliers will pretty much never come up for sale though
  11. Thanks a lot, it has the same marks in the deadwax as the Mikki Farrow as described in the manship guide. Must be real. Thanks everyone for the help!
  12. thank you. The only reason i doubted it is that the paper looks so thin that it's not a pure white, it sort of looks like the black of the vinyl is coming through. I looked in popsike and I can't really tell by looking at the other promo copies if they're similar.
  13. Can anyone tell me if Tony Hestor on karate was ever booted on a white label DJ? I just got one in the mail, the label looks sort of "thin", which is why I'm asking. Thanks in advance.
  14. I don't think this one is worth that much, maybe $40-$50 for a mint one? Bobby McClure also does a nice version of "I'm not ashamed".
  15. in my experience the utopias is rarer than the antiques. both do have a similar sound i guess.
  16. I'm also sorry I didn't get to meet you... I especially would have liked to look through some of the stuff you found! Wasn't criticizing about the chosen few, just adding info. Here is a cool poster I have for the group, Chosen Few were the band (as you can see on the poster), the same woman that sings lead on both the significants 45s sings on that Chosen Few 45 and the same female singers are backup (the one guy had left by that point).
  17. despite being on a louisiana label, the chosen few on faces are actually from florida, they are the same group as the significants on alesvers
  18. Sorry if this is a stupid question, but does "W**K" stand for "wank" or "wack"?
  19. I didn't realize that it was just a retitled version of the a-side. What about the flip, which also has a different title? Either way, still the highlight of my day. That's how exciting of a guy I am.
  20. also, in case you were wondering, yes, this was the highlight of my day
  21. This one is for the record nerds (I think you guys call them "anoraks"). Check it out: https://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=230655780626&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_500wt_898 I will post the exact number when I get it.
  22. edit -- not worth a discussion...
  23. it looked like the one on ebay had a label sleeve ... that looked very cool.
  24. they do cover "you've been cheating" on the one episode of The !!! Beat that they appear on. It's not a released record.
  25. the charmaines track got released on Minit. Obviously I don't know if it's the same version as on your acetate, but it was released.
