  1. is it a cover of the song or is it an identical recording of the carbon copies?
  2. "Watch your step" is way better than "no other way" imo, terrible for you maybe. The other one has "poor loser" which is the best side. Fortunately for you northern dudes they threw you a bone on the b-side of "poor loser".
  3. Cautions - Watch your step / Is it right - Shrine 104 - $600 + shipping This is the much rarer of the two shrine Cautions 45s. One just sold on John Manship auction for 3513 pounds. That's over $5600! This copy is in VG- condition, just general wear / scuffs, maybe 80% gloss, and there is a small mark on the a-side. NO STYRENE BURN. Great play copy, here is full 256kbs audio of both sides: https://www.divshare.com/download/24774719-3ad https://www.divshare.com/download/24774720-81b The main negative with the labels is that they are both missing. On styrene presses from this plant it is very frequent for labels to become unglued. Someone (NOT ME) printed out new versions of the labels and pasted them on. They actually look good, the only negative is that a) they aren't pasted on exactly center and b) one side is a scan of a much more worn label than the other side. Here are 300DPI scans of both sides: https://www.sittinginthepark.com/sales/11-2013/cautions-a.jpg https://www.sittinginthepark.com/sales/11-2013/cautions-b.jpg The thing is that the copy that manship sold for 3513 pounds ALSO had a printed, pasted on label on one side. In fact, I think these labels are identical to what was on the auctioned item. ADDITIONALLY, this comes with a fragment from one of the original labels, more than 50% of one side, here it is: https://www.sittinginthepark.com/sales/11-2013/cautionslabelfragment.jpg ADDITIONALLY, if you want, I can give you 600DPI scans of another copy with only light wear on both sides for a more consistent look. I can't print it out and cut it out and paste it on (don't know how to do that) but I can remove the currently pasted on label if you want. Asking $600 plus discounted shipping of $2 in the US and $10 overseas. If you want a special shipping service that would be extra. Paypal gift only. Please email sitpsales@gmail.com to reserve. Please only email if you can pay right away. This record never comes up for sale and this seems like a good opportunity / deal for you given how much the manship copy sold for. You could probably even resell for a profit, I just need to raise quick cash. again email sitpsales@gmail.com to reserve. I will respond to all emails but might be away from the computer for an hour or two. Thank you.
  4. it's because they were actually sold and played in the city, unlike some records were unplayed stock was just found.
  5. i think it was pressed at a plant that's datable by matrix info if someone wants to nerd out and get the info
  6. nice playlist. that centaura is LP-only, right? I have 3 of their 45s, didn't think their was a 4th one.
  7. This is everything in short: The green label is a different mix. All the other ones are the same mix. Blue is the rarest label variation. Yellow is the most common label variation. I'm not sure which is more common, red or green (red in my experience, but whatever), but the green is probably more valuable than red because of the mix.
  8. I ended up with the cautions that Pete sold, i actually eventually upgraded if someone needs it (still have it), and can scan the original labels off of my upgrade if you want consistent looking labels. Thanks.
  9. i'm guessing noriega = mike noriega
  10. no sniper is 100% failsafe, even with backup servers, etc.
  11. sorry to be ignorant as a US dude. who were selectadisc? were they commissioning the press just for the northern scene?
  12. gixen (as already mentioned) is the most known free one
  13. so you're saying that the pale blue Blue Rocks were pressed by Blue Rock in the US for export to the UK? how does that happen, doesn't someone from the UK have to initiate the special press? who did it?
  14. this label is so weird. chicago, milwaukee, dc, and new york acts.
  15. but why should it? this kind of proves the arbitrariness of this, nobody has proven that one is some later press. it seems artificial, like how that lew curtain revue on pad was a 500 record for a second because someone important said it was.
  16. Bobby Treetop - Wait till I get to know ya / Valentine - Tuff 417 Great play copy. A-side vinyl is VG-, shiny with some light scuffs and wear and light marks. Not sure how to grade the flip, it is similar but has a weird dark / hazed area but I don't think it's heat damage as it's not bubbled and doesn't affect play and there's a similar stain on the label itself. Not sure what causes this, I've only seen this once before. Either way, both sides play fine. Here are full 256kbs stereo audio files of each side: https://www.divshare.com/download/24759375-55f https://www.divshare.com/download/24759384-69e Here are full 300DPI scans of each side: https://www.sittinginthepark.com/sales/11-2013/bobbytreetop-a.jpg https://www.sittinginthepark.com/sales/11-2013/bobbytreetop-b.jpg I actually just downgraded to a scuffier copy because I don't like the label staining on the flip -- my loss is your gain. $150 + shipping paypal gift only. $2 US Shipping, $10 discounted overseas shipping. To reserve, DO NOT PM ME PLEASE. Please ONLY *EMAIL* SITPSales@gmail.com. I will respond to every email. Thanks in advance!
  17. in cases like this does it even matter? they were all pressed around the same time, as I don't think this record was repressed for any market. however, a monochromatic label like that usually indicates a cheaper further press.
  18. J Jones was Jan Jones, the lead singer, who has apparently has passed. The Cassadons on Beltone is the same label as Satch. But the cassadons is beltone 1025. I would have to look at the deadwax of all 4 records for clues.
  19. yeah it got a lot of radio play in chicago. very rare for a random record like that (even though it was fairly major) to get play because radio was pretty locked down in chicago, only a few non-national hits got any real play in the '70s.
  20. Soulful Illusion - Searching for love / To get to your love - Mercury 72754 - $75 300DPI Scans: https://www.sittinginthepark.com/sales/11-2013/Images/soulfulillusion-a.jpg https://www.sittinginthepark.com/sales/11-2013/Images/soulfulillusion-b.jpg 256kbs stereo mp3 audio clips: https://www.sittinginthepark.com/sales/11-2013/Audio/soulful%20illusion%20-%20searching%20for%20love.mp3? https://www.sittinginthepark.com/sales/11-2013/Audio/soulful%20illusion%20-%20to%20get%20to%20your%20love.mp3? Two obscure, Miracles-inspired midtempo sweet / northern sides, both great. “Searching for love” is more sweet while “To get to your love” is more northern. Apparently this is a St. Louis group who later went to LA to record on Tudor. Visual grade: VG+, styrene is nice and glossy with some light surface scratches on each side, nice copy Paypal gift only. Discounted shipping: US $2 for any number of records, Overseas to most locations $10 To reserve only email sitpsales@gmail.com
  21. I do a monthly sales list. It focuses on sweet soul but it's pretty much all group harmony so there are a lot of northern and funk sides. it's a private list, so it goes directly to subscribers and if there are any leftovers at the end I occasionally offer them on public forums. I want people who don't know about it to get a chance to see this month's list and subscribe if they want to receive future ones, the current list is here: https://us5.campaign-archive2.com/?u=a60a7bfcc4256caf298dc167f&id=96a5ca6bda If you are interested in receiving future lists, there is a subscribe button at the top of the page. Also, if you are interested in something off this list, please DO NOT pm me here and instead follow the instructions on the list for emailing me. Thanks for looking.
  22. not if moerer sold all his copies, or is out of touch selling soul (which is generally true). either way, when I said it was "common" I meant there was stock around (which there was). There's not lots of beat up copies out in the field for people to find. People have been posting it or asking for it as wants, making it easy to sell stock privately. either way, we're not going to convince each other at this point so it's a moot point.
  23. there aren't boots of this. the only way there would be a counterfeit is if someone did it one off. i found a copies a few times before it became super expensive. I was the first person to sell it on ebay and get any money, i got a whopping $160.
  24. i don't think one is a promo and one is stock, i think they just used two different label designs.
  25. I disagree, your logic is missing something. When a record is rare and not in demand, but becomes in demand, googling it afterwards will not reveal any sort of trail. Craig Moerer used to have many copies of the jay pee press for $20 and people wouldn't sell it on ebay because nobody wanted it. I have not mixed up this record, I'm in chicago and am pretty aware of Chicago records. I think maybe your perspective is coming from only looking for the record after it becomes in demand. Again, used to be tons of copies at craig moerer and gemm, etc. Also, I used to find it in real life more too.
