Mckinnley Mitchell "gypsy"
what's weird about the ebay auction is that there isn't just 2 bidders at $200, there are 3. so someone wants this record. this was the first mckinley mitchell 45 I ever had, I have a soft spot for "this place ain't getting no better" because I bought it early in my 45 collecting days.

The Originals / Freddie Gorman - (Artist Of The Week)
I always loved "baby I'm for real" and "the bells" but I totally slept on a bunch of originals tracks. Some are so great! I knew about and liked "good loving is just a dime away" but I just got a stock copy with this on the flip, so awesome: also, about a year ago I discovered "ooh you (put a crush on me)" also awesome: any other great tracks I'm missing by the Originals? By the way, the suspension group is not related. Thanks.

Rare Soul Inc Danny Woods, Silky Hargraves On Dearborn, Shaddows, Frederick Hymes Iii, The Rock, Mousie & The Traps Etc
I think someone posted a want for the TNJs on lucky lou very recently, it could be buried in one of those "two wants" type threads

Linda Jones Best Performance?
that linda lane 45 on cub (her first record) is pretty weak. she one of my favorite female singers overall though, along with Patti Hamilton and Barbara Lynn.

Linda Jones Best Performance?
sorry, i didn't watch the youtube clip so it was probably my fault. two great sides either way. thanks.

Mega Rare Seeburg Spotlite Band - Nowhere To Run - Mp3 & Scan
ok cool to know it's complete in the cardboard cover, that probably makes it more desirable.

Linda Jones Best Performance?
that's the a-side, "I'll be sweeter tomorrow (than I was yesterday)". Linda Jones does that song but it's not the same song as "that's when I'll stop loving you". Thanks.

Linda Jones Best Performance?
I like both neptune 45s but "that's when I'll stop loving you" is my favorite. But when did the O'Jays do the track? Thanks.

"chain Reaction" "more And More" Fish 45
I think the chain reaction came first as there are chain reaction titles on fish before and after. Charlie Harris was lead of the Chain reaction, it was probably released after all the chain reaction records. Not sure which is rarest, the Harris record used to be unknown but recently I've seen it more than the fish record.

Mega Rare Seeburg Spotlite Band - Nowhere To Run - Mp3 & Scan
I have a bunch of seeburg EPs of soul covers (not this one though, but there's a ton of them, one of them is volume 31) and they all come in cardboard covers. Obviously this is rare with or without the cover though. The Vows and Kittens told me they did a bunch of recording of cover versions for seeburg, it might be them on some of the records.

Singer And Song Title?
Obviously anything could be acetate only but I think it has too much production on it so it's likely released.

2 Wants, Ricky Allen, Adventurers
I actually don't own the tamboo version, it's doesn't turn up in Chicago and I missed out when some copies were floating around (I think on the funk boards that I don't read) a few years ago.
-
2 Wants, Ricky Allen, Adventurers
i know it's in demand, but i'm also out of touch with the r&b scene so I don't know if people also want the original. the original version is excellent R&B and was a local hit.
-
2 Wants, Ricky Allen, Adventurers
you should specify which version of the ricky allen you want -- tam-boo (much rarer and more expensive and funky / later) or Age (really good R&B)

Linda Jones Best Performance?
there are two totally different versions of fugitive from love that she did. there's the turbo version and the earlier blue cat version. i'm not sure which one i like better, they are different but each is pretty good.

A Couple Wants
I got the info from KarlM who has the record and apparently it is, as landy mcneil's name is on the 45
-
"chain Reaction" "more And More" Fish 45
the exact same tracks from this 45 were released as by Charlie Harris on Asbury, by the way.

Any Millionaires Around Look @ This On Ebay
yeah, this is the absolute worst, when someone calls you saying they have records and you look in the box and it's all 80s picture sleeves

Mr Manships Auction Results 26-10-2011
I'm talking about this record, the other one would have blown up on manship for big money as it's a well known northern record. i also got this one for about $100, scott cheesebrew had some stock at the time and I got it off him. younger funk / sweet soul collectors want this for the "people wake up" side.

this is my pick

So Who Was Soul Brother Number 1?
yeah, I don't see how anyone can bestow that specific title on anyone else when James Brown *is* Soul Brother Number 1. It's a more embedded title than Aretha being the "Queen of Soul" or Elvis being "the King of Rock and Roll" I also think it's funny that I've read twice on here that James Brown "there was a time" was a cover of Gene Chandler.

Mr Manships Auction Results 26-10-2011
lots of collectors would chew their arm off for an opportunity to get that chances record for 200 pounds. but they aren't the type of collectors that look at manship auctions.

Any Millionaires Around Look @ This On Ebay
I don't think a soul fan or a collector buy records as an investment. One buys records that sounds good, the other accumulates plastic for the sake of accumulation. I was making the distinction between having a coherent collection (which is a 3rd type of person probably inbetween the two, or maybe a more targeted version of a "collector") and just having random records.

Any Millionaires Around Look @ This On Ebay
I think he did, except that he picked like the 4 rarest and they weren't very rare

Any Millionaires Around Look @ This On Ebay
This is why I'm so targeted / genre specific in my collecting. I get a sense of satisfaction from having a (relatively) close to "complete" collection of soul groups, and for having run all the records of a group or label. Random record hoarders (like that Paul Mahwinney guy) just think they have "most of the good records" when in reality they've spread themselves thin with little focus, and their collections aren't worth much.
