  1. FYI, the extra tiny font constantly interrupted by the huge youtube videos makes your list very difficult to read
  2. there's also a pretty awesome mary wells clip of use your head
  3. Yeah I have it. it's hard to find but not super rare and not expensive when it comes up. It's not known though and pretty cool, I think it would be worth more if known as there are a large group of collectors that like that funky psychedelic sound.
  4. It takes only one DJ before you to break a needle and screw up your whole set. Additionally, I do some quick basic calibration on the turntable when putting my cartridge on as I've found many confused DJs will just dial the weight all the way up (and the antiskate to 10 or whatever).
  5. This doesn't make sense to me. all these people are spending $$$ on records in order to have "OVO" to DJ with. Very few are actually collecting. The whole thread is an argument about what is acceptable to DJ with, not to have in your house. It makes no sense to me that people will spend tons of money on records but not a tiny bit more on cartridges, not only to protect their investment but to also improve their DJ sets. The whole reason most people on the scene bought the records is to DJ.
  6. I really don't understand how northern DJs don't always bring good cartridges and use them. People who have a whole box of $200+ records can't spend $200 to get a couple carts and a plastic case to keep their set sounding good and from screwing up their records? It's totally irrational, and not in the way that that some other parts of the scene come off as strange, there's literally no justification for not doing it. Vinyl DJs on any other scene bring their own cartridges.
  7. there is a listing for the LP in popsike that says '77. i don't have the lp to check if there's a date on it.
  8. I think '76 but I'm not 100%
  9. his brother raymond produced the recording. i think he was a psychologist or psychiatrist (or something related) which is why "psych" was the record label. they didn't want to send their tapes over to me to be transferred so I don't have the basic tracks. I would have loved to have their other 45 as instrumental, both sides are awesome. I don't know if they sent the tapes to ace/kent. i pmed you asking for your email address. this is the best charles russell 45, one of the greatest sweet soul 45s of all time:
  10. not sure but of the two LP covers, the one with the girl on it is first. The girl was Ric Williams girlfriend (I think that's what they told me) and he got mad that she was on the cover so they had to change the cover.
  11. I think $25-$50 I think it's actually a better version, the first version is just more indemand for rarity / historical reasons
  12. Maybe they reused the backing track but the new image definitely has rerecorded vocals. The first version crediting charles russell had just charles on overdub. The new image version has an actual vocal group (members of the image on janus) singing. Also, your theory about them blowing all their cash on the first recording isn't totally true because they also put in a lot of money into the other new image 45 -- who needs a.d. / midnight walker. it has the same motown musicians on it and it's an awesome psychedelic track. it's also a record about angel dust that predates gil scott heron's angel dust.
  13. I think the "demand" was probably one person contacting them asking for copies, which they didn't have any more of, so they recorded it again. They put a lot of money into the recordings, they paid top LA session musicians (including wah wah watson, etc.) to play on them. The other new image 45 has really cool psychedelic tracks on both sides. the disco track is sort of cheesy, it's similar but they added the disco laser noises and extended it, etc. I can send it to you if you don't circulate it.
  14. no it' is only available on a 70s reissue but it's the legit musicor reissue with a light brown label and a big M on it.
  15. You got the copy that was just on ebay? I thought it was just okay. I have a 60s 45 by Roy Cagle and the Playmates, I think it was from texas or louisiana. I assume it's the same guy.
  16. also, they later did a 3rd reworking of the song, a disco track called "burning with fire". they test pressed it onto 12" with no labels, I transferred it from one of the 12"s that they let me borrow.
  17. Ady, I sent you recordings of both on CD. The New Image is a rerecording not a remix. There is no vocal group on the Charles Russell version, he does all overdubs. He told me they rerecorded it due to northern demand, the new image version has his vocal group on it.
  18. i think brad had "loving you takes all of my time" up once or twice. record graveyard used to constantly be listing (beat up) detroit 45s on ebay, I'd imagine they also would have had a copy. I think a lot of sellers not only got more conservative but actually stopped listing beat up 45s on ebay in order to avoid hits to their DSRs. I like "loving you ..." a lot but I don't own either of the solid hit records.
  19. this always seem to turn up trashed for some reason
  20. yeah, I knew that, mainly in massachusetts
  21. there actually is a weird rare CD market, I don't understand the dynamics / factors (although obviously they have to be out of print CDs) but some CDs are worth $$$.
  22. there are a few cities in the US that have a lot of Armenians but LA has the biggest population by far. there is some population in Detroit, Westbound was run by Armenians (most notoriously Armen Boladian).
  23. my favorite record on the label is the magictones "got to get a little closer". I also like the lil soul brothers "heartaches".

  25. here is the lineup of the group from soul harmony singles: Tommy Keith (deceased), later of The Marlboro Men and The Brothers Of Love; brother James Keith, Walter “Buster” Lockman, Rodney Overbea, William Thomas. The group recorded an R&B record as The Delights on Nite. The Keith Brothers and Lockman were formerly of the R&B group The Teen Kings on Bee who became The Delrays on Cord.**
