  1. sorry, i didn't watch the youtube clip so it was probably my fault. two great sides either way. thanks.
  2. ok cool to know it's complete in the cardboard cover, that probably makes it more desirable.
  3. that's the a-side, "I'll be sweeter tomorrow (than I was yesterday)". Linda Jones does that song but it's not the same song as "that's when I'll stop loving you". Thanks.
  4. I like both neptune 45s but "that's when I'll stop loving you" is my favorite. But when did the O'Jays do the track? Thanks.
  5. I think the chain reaction came first as there are chain reaction titles on fish before and after. Charlie Harris was lead of the Chain reaction, it was probably released after all the chain reaction records. Not sure which is rarest, the Harris record used to be unknown but recently I've seen it more than the fish record.
  6. I have a bunch of seeburg EPs of soul covers (not this one though, but there's a ton of them, one of them is volume 31) and they all come in cardboard covers. Obviously this is rare with or without the cover though. The Vows and Kittens told me they did a bunch of recording of cover versions for seeburg, it might be them on some of the records.
  7. Obviously anything could be acetate only but I think it has too much production on it so it's likely released.
  8. I actually don't own the tamboo version, it's doesn't turn up in Chicago and I missed out when some copies were floating around (I think on the funk boards that I don't read) a few years ago.
  9. i know it's in demand, but i'm also out of touch with the r&b scene so I don't know if people also want the original. the original version is excellent R&B and was a local hit.
  10. you should specify which version of the ricky allen you want -- tam-boo (much rarer and more expensive and funky / later) or Age (really good R&B)
  11. there are two totally different versions of fugitive from love that she did. there's the turbo version and the earlier blue cat version. i'm not sure which one i like better, they are different but each is pretty good.
  12. I got the info from KarlM who has the record and apparently it is, as landy mcneil's name is on the 45
  13. the exact same tracks from this 45 were released as by Charlie Harris on Asbury, by the way.
  14. yeah, this is the absolute worst, when someone calls you saying they have records and you look in the box and it's all 80s picture sleeves
  15. I'm talking about this record, the other one would have blown up on manship for big money as it's a well known northern record. i also got this one for about $100, scott cheesebrew had some stock at the time and I got it off him. younger funk / sweet soul collectors want this for the "people wake up" side.
  16. this is my pick
  17. yeah, I don't see how anyone can bestow that specific title on anyone else when James Brown *is* Soul Brother Number 1. It's a more embedded title than Aretha being the "Queen of Soul" or Elvis being "the King of Rock and Roll" I also think it's funny that I've read twice on here that James Brown "there was a time" was a cover of Gene Chandler.
  18. lots of collectors would chew their arm off for an opportunity to get that chances record for 200 pounds. but they aren't the type of collectors that look at manship auctions.
  19. I don't think a soul fan or a collector buy records as an investment. One buys records that sounds good, the other accumulates plastic for the sake of accumulation. I was making the distinction between having a coherent collection (which is a 3rd type of person probably inbetween the two, or maybe a more targeted version of a "collector") and just having random records.
  20. I think he did, except that he picked like the 4 rarest and they weren't very rare
  21. This is why I'm so targeted / genre specific in my collecting. I get a sense of satisfaction from having a (relatively) close to "complete" collection of soul groups, and for having run all the records of a group or label. Random record hoarders (like that Paul Mahwinney guy) just think they have "most of the good records" when in reality they've spread themselves thin with little focus, and their collections aren't worth much.
  22. that is depressing to look at. he can't even find a few 4-figure records to take pictures of out of 15,000 45s. it is depressing because he has so much of his life invested in collecting the records and thinks they're worth a ton of money when in reality he would have difficulty getting 1/10th of his asking price. it's also depressing because there are so many other collectors / hoarders in the same position.
  23. Thanks, I actually never saw the ladellics for sale until I got it from someone on here recently, soul source rules. Thanks for pointing out the link problem, here is the correct link: https://www.sittinginthepark.com/10-23-2011.mp3? thanks again
