  4. I wonder what the value would be for the much rarer detroit distributed yellow label copy
  5. congratulations on getting back into the music. now is an ideal time to get back into the music as so many obscure / rare records are online on youtube, etc., it's much easier to learn and hear new sounds. also, there are what seems like an infinite number of releases, many not yet "known", as there were so many independent labels. I've been collecting pretty aggressively for about 15 years and every day I'm still learning about new records.
  6. transitional doowop / soul from around 1960

  9. nice sweet soul flip also. i paid more than that for my copy.
  10. sorry, I didn't think I was saying anything negative about your sales, I hope you are successful
  11. haha, ross bagdasarian has a northern record? he's the (armenian) guy that invented alvin and the chipmunks
  12. the best video ever is the teddy / bluenotes singing "I miss you" on Soul! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aOZuyAkj7Bc
  13. yes, wisconsin is the state, milwaukee is the city. sorry to come across as a smartass.
  14. look at a map
  15. that apollas record was actually a hit in chicago so it turns up trashed here. but it was the "all sold out" side that got play, not mr creator
  16. yes i'm pretty sure that's an unrelated detroit thing
  17. whoa, never knew that
  18. in my experience the ones with the lines are the rarest
  19. sorry for the delay on this. anyways, it looks like there's two catalog numbers for each release, the one on the left and the one on the right, and they only started using the one on the right later
  20. I don't think there are a lot of labels with the name. It started in Chicago, then went to Milwaukee (which is where it was most of the time and the time of the tornadoes record) and then went back to Chicago in the late 70s. It was run by lenny lacour.
  21. RIP. Love Tony Owens "Confessing a feeling" and "wishing, waiting, and hoping" as well as that philharmonics
  22. Didn't craig moerer have it up buy-it-now for $5000 for a long time?
  23. I am a record collector. Among other things I specifically collect the magic touch label so one of them is filed in my collection. This is (or was) a very rare records that I had been looking for for many years. I bought an extra copy to trade as I know it's not only rare but that some people really like the record. I have much worse magic touch records in my collection.
  24. aren't cecilia moore, the buttons, and the dee cees identical recordings?
  25. while wasting time i decided to look at the very first sales on here: /forum/4-sales/page__prune_day__100__sort_by__Z-A__sort_key__start_date__topicfilter__all__st__38800 i was surprised that most prices were pretty much the same or higher than now. obviously some records that were nothing that became in demand went up, but i was surprised overall.
