  1. most souleful record
  2. whatever, that album is good. This one is a tim hardin cover: and I don't do lord of the rings LARPing, only vampire the masquerade
  3. someone literally just posted a copy in the sales forum (it's part of a list of items).
  4. perfections - baby don't you go - big b
  5. This is sort of off topic. I don't really listen to rock music but one of my favorite rock LPs of all time is the first Gandalf LP on Capitol. Almost every song is a cover, but they're all amazing. One of the last rock records I still listen to.
  6. I like that track but most soulful record? it's almost pop.
  7. but are the US copies bootlegs or did they just imitate the french press for the bootleg?
  8. dearly beloved got some radio play in chicago
  9. there are some in popsike and the ones I saw didn't mention boots and seemed to sell for as much as the foreign press. However, I don't really know anything about the 45 pressing of this track so they might be boots -- hopefully someone on here can give you a more authoritative answer.
  10. dude sounds like an idiot. my mom has heard of ray charles and she is an immigrant who pretty much never owned any music. charles was the coca cola spokesman for a while, did the guy also not hear of coca cola?
  11. It's the original version of the song if that's what you're asking. In popsike there appears to be some strata-east US promos which I guess would be more "original" unless they are all bootlegs or something.
  12. yeah, it's more psychedelic, the harmony is better, and in my opinion john gary williams is a better lead
  13. OK I got another really good one. Although people here will probably totally disagree. The mad lads "did my baby call" is killer, a million types better than the professionals and steve mancha.
  14. they didn't actually take on the name brothers by choice, apparently brothers by choice (on ALA and other labels) was just a studio creation with a changing line of singers and musicians, and the saints only sing on that specific ALA record
  15. jason perlmutter told me that they went to california and are actually the singers on brothers by choice "oh darlin'"
  16. I get so many poorly packaged records that are broken, it is a total hassle for me constantly dealing with the issue since i buy a lot of records.
  17. The message board adds the youtube tags to any youtube video and there's no way to remove them, even if you edit your post. I asked about this and Mike suggested putting a question mark at the end of the link which somehow prevents the youtube tag.
  18. one of my top wants. they have another nice sweet soul title on sound hut.
  19. I have a couple cool covers of "the bells". One is by an ohio group called Alias Funk and Soul, not as good as the original. But another one is a really cool kiddie version by the philly group the beck brothers from 1972 (they became the beck family), I don't know if it's better than the original but it definitely is different.
  20. peace justice and equality is a different group than the deceptions, the group just had the same lead singer dan goldstone. someone was telling me that dan was selling an unreleased album on ebay (I think from the 80s?) that had a 3rd version of "of all the hearts to break" and that it was really good. I think black and blue stole the song as I think the writing credits are different (I have to look at the record to check but i think it credits producer duke hall).
  21. you just missed two on ebay in the last month. i got one of them and was surprised to see another afterwards.
  22. I just thought of a really good one. The vanguards "somebody please" is amazing, way better than the billy keene original.
  23. didn't herring mostly co-write with ed townsend?
  24. just want to confirm that i'm not misunderstanding you -- you think stay in my corner is not good?
  25. yes. in chicago much more common than the thomas release, which is impossible to find. the thomas record must have been all exported to the UK.
