  1. cool, I will make you audio clips so you can hear it too. Thanks.
  2. This thread is an interesting read. One thing that sucks about this thread though is that whenever some jerk who knows nothing about soul finds a record mentioned in this thread and gets a google hit, they will put it up on ebay for a zillion dollars when it may be very cheap just rare. It would be funny if everyone intentionally misspelled every record or something.
  3. Night Train evolved into The !!! Beat but they are different shows. Night Train is black and white, has this weird sort of staged thing going for every performance where you don't even see the set, and all the songs are covers of other songs. The !!! Beat is color, has a great 60s looking set, and the artists do their own material. Supposedly the episode with all the chicago people (radiants, mamie galore, etc.) came from a big tour that was passing through town and they got scheduled on the show.
  4. actually I won it, sort of accidentally. it had a slightly different label design than the one I already had, it was like a little more crude looking. I assumed the tracks were different and then after I won it I saw they were the same songs. If I get it and the tracks are not different versions to the one I have already, you can have it for what I paid if you want.
  5. the soul record I'm looking to upgrade on mercury is 60s. I know there are very hard records on stock in the 70s...
  6. I have a very hard mercury soul 45... i have been trying to upgrade it forever. i've never seen it for sale. don't wanna give up which one it is until i upgrade. There are some very hard blue rock and smash numbers too (which I don't have at all but which do exist).
  7. the tru glo town 45 also has a random # on it that has nothing to do with the TGT numbering system. Of course that happens sometimes with oddball releases on labels but it is more evidence that it is a bootleg
  8. also the harmony is way out of tune on the fortson and scott record, it's unlistenable. FLAME AWAY.
  9. because people have bad taste? that fondells record rules.
  10. The reissue linked above is probably a bootleg because there's ring wear on the cover. A legit reissue probably wouldn't just copy an LP cover that had ringwear (and at least they could have photoshopped it out, legit or not). I don't think it's been sealed long enough to get ring wear. Someone feel free to correct me on the legitimacy of this pressing.
  11. the show in the clip is Night Train. It's really disappointing to watch that show because there are some amazing acts (for example, the avons) but they don't do their own songs, they do covers of hits.
  12. nice records and priced reasonably... doesn't happen that much
  13. there are many ultra-rare records on turbo, stang, and all platinum though.
  14. i think there could have been a quantity scare from that magic touch person on ebay. or maybe the big hitters who wanted it for that much got copies already? or it could relate to the big hitters recovering from or still being on vacation.
  15. I don't really know if this is the reason for the overall rarity, but john anderson told me some story once about a large warehouse worth of bell stock being destroyed.
  16. I've only ever seen happy as a promo (it has both sides though), never as a stock copy. This wikipedia page says it's just Billy Guy. Also, what's crazier is that it says it also was released as by the "Happy Cats". If that's true that's gotta be super rare. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Billy_Guy
  17. fondells on pzazz is rarer
  18. vito and the salutations
  19. I'm not bitching about the lack of topics, I was just pointing out that certain topics have been created many times and continue to be created. i do create topics. anyways, i've said enough on this. thanks for dealing with this site, i know it must be annoying when people complain after you put so much time and energy into the site. thanks a lot.
  20. I actually agree with this too. Above I was mainly talking about dealing with general customers who aren't special (e.g. your friends).
  21. well this part is definitely true: "There are about 4 or 5 topics that get continually discussed time and time again"
  22. i think he was saying that if you sold him some good records that they aren't "unknowns"
  23. I agree with this, although you can get it cheap if it comes up on ebay (which it rarely does), since it's sort of a specialist item. This is the ohio group the moroccos btw, when my friend talked to the leader he said they recorded at motown and gave the names of the tracks but was unaware that they were released.
  24. FWIW, I'm used to haggling, you do it with every dealer at record shows, etc. Pete's list makes it clear by saying "no offers" but I don't see the point in getting offended otherwise. Do you not haggle at record bars at an event? When I was selling at soultrip plenty of people asked me for lower prices (although I guess I was surprised at the number of people not asking).
