  1. there is at least one more release on the label ... it's an earlier orange version of the label but i'm pretty sure it's the same label
  2. for what it's worth, I don't know many US group collectors who have this, if rich rosen got copies i'm not sure where they went. p.s. did I post here the video of rich rosen on the tv show pawn stars trying to sell like an old rocking horse?
  3. I AM CONFUSED
  4. I thought there was only one skip at the beginning before the vocals come in.
  5. you think it's the tape and not the plates? Did you ever try spinning it back slowly or looking closely at the vinyl to see if it was messed up.
  6. whoa, I always thought it was just my copy and I was pissed.
  7. I got ebay on lock, you can't hide from me.
  8. which makes it vaguely amusing that the 45 pictured isn't a US press
  9. you outbid me on the sandwash record last time it was on ebay (it was maybe 3-4 years ago?).
  10. that seattle pure dynamite is crazy long -- just under 7 minutes. I thought it must be one of the longest soul 45s I've ever seen but I recently got a jim gilstrap 45 that had a short / long version and I swear it was over 7 1/2 minutes on the long side. Either way, with a long 45 it will be even rarer to have playable copies since they are pressed super low and you need a very clean copy, every tiny scratch will be really loud.
  11. you might be thinking of the paul mitchell trio on P&L? I remember there was some northern interest in it for like a second.
  12. certain studios did have multitrack recorders. but i don't think they mixed in the vocals from another take, i think they did more than one take and spliced the tape together at the point of the edit.
  13. everything else on the label is jazz right? I'm trying to think of another soul record and I can't.
  14. by "DJ style" i meant his talking style on the mic, I wasn't clear. thanks.
  15. TAVARES (New Bedford, MA) Ralph Tavares (lead and second tenor), left by 1990; Arthur "Pooch" Tavares (baritone), Antone "Chubby" Tavares (lead and tenor), Perry Lee "Tiny" Tavares (baritone), Feliciano "Butch" Tavares (tenor). Also, Victor Tavares was in the early group on Capitol. As Linda & the Del Rios: Linda Steele, Antone Tavares, Arthur Tavares, Ralph Tavares, John Tavares, Pete ?.
  16. I really really want this but can't afford to drop over $3000 on a record ... do you have a financing plan?
  17. plenty of people value lower priced records. I do think his enthusiasm for the music comes out, that was one of the things I was saying earlier. I actually think he has a pretty good DJ style too. Also, I agree with what bearsy is saying that people are more likely to rip into him after his DJ set. Some of the people responsible for the conflict in the previous thread aren't posting here anymore though.
  18. I never noticed that before but it's clearly there. Not tape flutter, but one vaguely similar thing I always noticed that annoys me is that you can hear an edit (probably from another take or something) in the Bluebelles version of "I'm still waiting": it happens around 2:29 or 2:30
  19. Also, I have actually seen more stock copies than promos of that but it's pretty rare so it's not like I've seen a lot of copies overall.
  20. Ernie King is the same person as King Ernest / King Ernest Baker. That mercury 45 is his first record.
  21. I actually am surprised, everyone is being pretty honest and reasonable without hatefully attacking him or ripping him apart (which did happen in that other thread).
  22. this is from beaumont, texas. It is carl stewart with the sonics, right? Manship auctioned one of the sonics on copyright maybe a year ago but I don't remember if it's this one or not. Carl Stewart also has a record on mercury if I'm remembering correctly. There is a nice barbara lynn record on this label.
  23. Thanks for the info I appreciate it.
  24. this is one of the records he played that didn't even sound close to soul (in my opinion) haha
  25. I don't know it but there's sales records, and one for sale for 20 pounds on the internet. Does it sound like a Black group? Thanks.
