  1. although this contradicts my statement about needing 4 records, Jam-Cha out of san francisco (3 records) has to be one of the rarest also.
  2. Robb, although your looking through huge warehouses does give you a lot of insight into relative rarities, soul music was such a local phenomenon with stuff only being distributed certain places that I think it's hard to judge by personal experience. Bob Miner tells me he saw 50 copies of the classics on yan-g at a flea market in the '80s, where did they go? probably in the trash... also, how many releases were on phelectron? there probably need to be at least 4 to be considered a real "label" imo, otherwise it's more one off. kev roberts told me that oj simpson lawyer johnny cochran owned phelectron, I don't know if that's the case or not.
  3. CDBBQ is a robot relister that crawls listings on musicstack and other sites and relists with a higher price, adding on their CD-R service. Lots of times if you find a deal, you actually lost the deal because you only find the CDBBQ listing and the original listing is long gone.
  4. link? to a supposed bootleg, not to the dancing video
  5. Palladium (Houston)
  6. radio city (san diego)
  7. out of the past records in chicago used to have a lot of the mispresses
  8. didn't this happen with some bob dylan material recently? super tiny pressing of some stuff in order to keep copyright?
  9. he is still selling records and still does a private list too
  10. james bowens was later lead of double o's demingoes
  11. EDIT: pm'ed you
  12. finally, soul source has a thread like this.
  13. chris of the wax museum is a big commands fan, i used to buy a lot from him and he made me a CD of all their tracks as a favor once, he even used one of the pic sleeves to make a cover p.s. if you play this record out, demons come up and pull you down into a gate to hell that opens up under your feet
  14. morris chestnut jr. is a pretty famous black actor, more famous in the general populace than his father is as a singer.
  15. he should have used the refund option on the payment. if i were you i would go through ebay's own refund process. open up a case escalate it, you will have to return it to the address ebay tells you to using tracking, you will get a refund. once you get double refunded, refund his payment to you.
  16. this comes up sometimes on ebay. in popsike there's like 50 promos and 1 stock copy.
  17. the george perkins record credits george perkins and fir-ya i think. so it's not just a coincidence.
  18. it could have ended at 168 pounds just because it was poorly listed and looked shady. for example, it said M- but the label made it look like a beat up copy.
  19. the forevers are the same group as kitty and the haywoods. the singer is kitty haywood.
  20. i agree, straight up fraud. the imperfect label even adds to the fake original look.
  21. Hi. After being sick for a while (still recovering...) and missing my show for a month, I’m back with a special 2 ½ hour Sitting in the Park show. I played a wide range of music -- funky ‘60s and ‘70s soul, female deep soul, tons of ‘70s sweet soul, some rare groove sounds, some uptempo ‘70s and early ‘80s, and a set of classic ‘60s Chicago and sweet soul (a bonus at the end not in the playlist). I also played a lot of excellent music that was recently released -- discoveries of lost ‘70s tapes and even new recordings. Check it out at: https://www.sittinginthepark.com/12-8-2013.mp3? You can listen to other shows and interviews with Chicago groups by going to my main page www.sittinginthepark.com Also, if someone you know wants to subscribe to this email list, they can add themselves at the following URL: https://eepurl.com/n7Qr5 Playlist follows and I hope you enjoy the show. 22. they not only aren't going to get noticed, they also don't even have the collecting or listening background knowledge of a large amount of great cheap material to need to mess with (often worse) much more expensive material. all they can do is buy what's the buzz in the small collecting circle, no matter how well intentioned they are. you have to put in your time to learn about music to be able to pull good cheap records and mix them in with more expensive ones. also relevant to the thread... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DynkXrQ3Hi8
  23. this is just a rumor that they were connected. I think Heikki (*the* dramatics expert, he's on here btw) confirmed that there was no connection or maybe only one common member or something, I don't remember.
  24. "no rebate on love" is actually a different splinter group that had wee gee and elbert wilkins
