  1. I've been told that the Girls were from Chicago but nobody else I've asked remembered them.
  2. on soundcloud there is an option to turn on and off the ability to download. I'm not sure about mixcloud though, and at least looking quickly at Steve's files couldn't find one.
  3. I didn't even see that stuff when I was digging in memphis. And that label has a big chicago connection and a lot of the records were hits here ... but this is the first time i saw that sleeve.
  4. what do you mean her own end label? like she owned it at the point of the blue and red label variation? she didn't really start a new end label, did she? thanks.
  5. yeah all very rare. the my children + two record is the first kool and together 45. I think it's also on the heavy light reissue. The blackblood is very rare, I traded an expensive funk record to get it from my friend who got a trashed copy from the group. The soulistics is a known funk record on the a-side, but I love their version of cotton eyed joe, it's so good. The love foundation I never even heard of until recently. The flip is a killer psychedelic funk thing too.
  6. here's the follow-up. "power to the peep-hole"
  7. someone else mentioned a malcolm x song above. i definitely think his name in a title is the closest thing so far.
  8. I love the colored label version you just posted, it looks so good
  9. correction -- second biggest hit next to leroy
  10. I guess he does say "cavemen" also in the song though so it is funny that you posted even with that handle. You know that this was his biggest hit:
  11. If you don't care about genre, btw, go to all music and search by song and type in xavier. I did it and didn't come up with anything close to soul music though.
  12. i've seen this before but this is a lot cooler than I remember it. I thought it had a traditional "pic sleeve", not a decorated regular sleeve (which looks cooler in this case).
  13. I agree, a legend with roots that go back far and into many different scenes. I gotta say though, I laughed at someone with the handle "caveman" posting in this thread. You should change your user ID to Troglodyte.
  14. random fact that doesn't have anything to do with the thread -- madeline and the monticellos were from Buffalo, NY and actually are exactly the same group as on the Detroit Red Cap label.
  15. I have never ever seen this sleeve. Awesome.
  16. Versatiles on Staff had nothing to do with the 5th dimension, you're thinking of the Versatiles on Bronco. However, the staff group had Mel Britt as a member, with 2 other guys.
  17. nice, will check it out soon. thanks for digging these up.
  18. I knew they evolved into black merda. Did you know that the impacs on land are a totally unrelated group that were fans of the impacs so they took on their name after their name changed?
  19. A monster one out of Detroit also but which I can't find on youtube is the Fabulous Impacs - I'll be crying
  20. nick soule talked to one of them and is supposed to get me group membership for soul harmony singles
  21. I never heard the john bowie before, I liked it (desipte it not having a vocal group).
  22. yeah I know it's totally different now, the recording I had of the 1974 version was muffled which made me think it was the same just recorded poorly or transferred poorly. Is there a red label and a blue label of the later version? I vaguely remember seeing a blue label but I'm probably confused about that now.
  23. maybe I'm just misremembering this song but I vaguely remember a slower version of this song with someone with a deeper voice. Is there another version of this song?
  24. i think you're absorbing the teen speech from supernatural
