  1. this is another one for the ballad side on the other side of the northern side thread
  2. On a bunch of Phil Collins 80s recordings (I think including su-su-sudio) there are a bunch of the Pharoahs playing backup. And Tom Washington arranged it, I think he made a lot of money off of that. In the video they show a bunch of Black dudes behind Phil but I don't know if those are the same people or just people they got for the video.
  3. a detroit resident and record dealer and collector. i think he's soulhawk on here.
  4. whoa, I just noticed there's a ton of other interviews on the site, and music shows, it's awesome.
  5. Yeah, I think I've heard that interview before...
  6. which ones do you need? It's possibly that I might know someone with a copy that might be willing to sell / trade. You can PM me if you don't want to post it publicly. Thanks.
  7. can you send me a short clip?
  8. did you see the velma perkins went cheap under the radar recently, it was poorly listed and went for like $70.I had a copy already but would have bid to get a double, but didn't see it. I saw it later when searching someone's bids.
  9. I'm still looking for this title. Cash or trade. I have a twi-lites to trade if you need it. Thanks.
  10. So I had (or thought I had) a complete run of the twinight label, until I got this record today: It's the same recording as the "unreleased" Domino single that Numero Group put out. Anyone ever seen this before?
  11. ok, that makes sense I guess. This auction is interesting to me (since I don't know much about the northern scene). This site makes it seem that people only play original vinyl, etc. But this makes it looks like he was able to accumulate a large amount of reissues and bootlegs to go around to different clubs and play northern "oldies". Are there tons of tiny events that need DJs like him? it almost seems like he's selling a business, not a collection.
  12. it was weirder, apparently a record with two different songs increases the number of total records. Also, he said there were 600 records, but the 2-sided records add another 100? So 500 of the records have the same song on both side? I'm confused reading his ad.
  13. I wouldn't be surprised actually, there are so many unknown numbers which I think probably do exist and that label is so ghetto.
  14. THANK YOU!!! now you're not in competition with me. Still -- weird #s wanted, PM me.
  15. All I can say is I've been collecting stang for a while and have never ever seen this and I bought all sorts of stupid titles like buster benton 45s to get the #. Now you have even more competition for this (sorry).
  16. these are dollars and not pounds right?
  17. this is the new jersey stang??? If so I would definitely like to get a copy, I collect stang / all platinum / vibration (if anyone has any other odd numbers contact me).
  18. no, i don't remember the id of the "katrina water" seller but that's not them. i think it was "leontgross" or something like that.
  19. what does this mean "There is also a number of double AA side lables so there is potentially 700+ records in this box"?
  20. that depends on what kind of collector you are. it's not the "original" sleeve. once I was looking through this really old school chicago collector's collection (he had gotten all original sleeves for everything) and he kept complaining that I was not putting the record back with the same side facing out when I put them in the sleeves.
  21. there was a seller selling 45s and advertising them all as katrina damaged. They were able to clean up the vinyl but the labels were ugly and had dirt that they were only able to partially clean.
  22. That's gotta be sick, anyone have a pic of the shrine mailer?
  23. I bought one of those garbage pop records to get the sleeve too and I don't have anything on the label. But someone (I think he's Soulhawk on here) told me that the silky hargraves wasn't actually released in the custom sleeve.
  24. the 20th century release actually charted on the US billboard r&b charts if I'm not mistaken. I think collectors just like the record and buy copies of it when it comes up for sale.
  25. joe bataan is easy, it got released like 4 times as a single but he had a hit with "crystal blue persuasion" and "ordinary guy" is on the flip. There should be copies on gemm or ebay I would think.
