  1. Search for "making room" in the search box, you'll find plenty of people's sales on here where people claim to be selling to "make room", possibly in their "box".
  2. man, I'm listening to this record (she's fire) for the 5th time today. I really like it but probably will never own it (obviously)...
  3. I laughed at this. What record exactly is for sale? https://www.ebay.com/itm/Patty-LaBelle-Bluebells-45-Atlantic-girl-group-soul-/110812282675?pt=Music_on_Vinyl&hash=item19cced3f33#ht_499wt_1017
  4. annual bump
  5. I just want to follow up to say that now all my faith in Paul Mooney is gone.

... and my friend still hasn't been able to find a copy and he's been looking since then

Just to follow up, this was a long time ago, and the group members didn't even have any copies. Lots of 4 figure records now you could get under the radar for a few bucks a long time ago.
  8. dude i have a lot of records. my shelves are actually all in alphabetical order but these new arrivals are in some weird inbetween limbo zone.
  9. Didn't the earl english go for a zillion dollars on ebay the other day? it definitely shot up in price.

I got this randomly on ebay a long time ago for $5. I gave my friend the info and he found them at that time, actually white guys doing a temptations funky group type sound, which is unusual.
  11. I will try to listen more. I actually can't find where I put the johnny washington on sandwash that I posted about before that everyone else thought was good to try to relisten to.
  12. Sorry to consistently be a hater, just wanted to hear people's opinions of this. I recently got the first milton wright on alston: 3716 - Milton Wright - Keep It Up / Silence That You Keep I was overall disappointed as instead of being a killer rare groove record to me it just sounds like an okay stevie wonder imitation. The b-side was a little better and I would even consider playing it on my show but I don't get the demand for this record. It definitely doesn't have much of that dark "rare groove" type sound. I'm interested in hearing other people's opinions of this 45. Also, is the second alston 45 better / worse / similar sounding / different sounding? Thanks in advance.
  13. that is a real record dealer though, it's either a mistake or a signpost listing (e.g. getting it to show up in the ads here).
  14. my friend found a copy recently, I actually had never really listened to it before, I thought it was terrible (please don't flame me, just my opinion, I'm sure many people hate my taste too). But the other side was actually sort of nice midtempo. Not amazing but nice.
  15. based on the other thread about withdrawing bids, clearly total fraud. should be reported to ebay by as many people as possible.
  16. It's clearly a fake bid to figure out your max, a retraction, and then a second bid to knock up the bid up to your max. Much stupider and obvious than regular shill bidding (which just attempts to push you to your max and then might result in a second chance offer if they end up outbidding you). You should definitely report this to ebay ASAP.
  17. I think coming back girl is a terrible record. I actually like she's fire a lot for some reason, it's super fast and catchy in a way that I can bob my head to. The changes in the song are more like Chicago soul changes than coming back girl. Also it sort of reminds me of the VIPs Flashback.
  18. that seller has been posting here a bunch of times about the tapes.
  19. yes, they were mainly a dance troupe and then a few formed a singing group. i don't remember all the details right now but it's all in the sheryl swope interview I did. The photo looks like the photos I have of the vashonettes except the newspaper makes them look extremely light skinned for some reason. The vashonettes became the oncoming times and Sheryl was a member of the oncoming times.
  20. haha, nice one. "labels have writing (lots)".
  21. it wasn't really announced / acknowledged, but a lot of the people in the band were famous (or not famous but important) music people themselves
  22. nice. i think i have an actual 8x10 scan of that prolifics though, i would have to dig it out
  23. Also, this destroys the (terrible IMO) northern side. awesome:
  24. the 7th ave aviators is one of the greatest sweet soul track of all time:
