  1. I think if you send it first class registered, it's slower but is safer. I hate sending packages registered because you have to use this special brown tape on the package, you can't use clear packing tape.
  2. Yeah, I was talking about Jamaican soul collectors (e.g. the NY jamaican collectors). I believe you but I've never seen the styrene version of the benny sigler, does it look like all the arctic and phila reissues of the 80s? The handmade looking label is crazy
  3. sorry that happened. A lot of jamaican presses of soul are crude reproductions of the original label, or even put onto another label (sometimes related, sometimes not), and with a catalog number that doesn't have anything to do with the real catalog. At least it's not an expensive record.
  4. I sent one 45 first class international to the UK (cheapest service) a few days ago and it was over $7 now
  5. the resolution on your pic is like 4dpi so I can't see it closely. It could be a jamaican press or it could be a test press, I might have a more specific opinion if I could read it. Thanks.
  6. Is this a popcorn sound? One of the sellers was Barrie (a45heaven) so I don't know where he got it. I don't remember where else I've seen it but I have seen it another time. I don't know what both sides sound like, there may be a side that has a jamaican sound also.
  7. I don't know but at least that's a good suggestion of a market that might value this specific title that I didn't think about. Anyone have more info?
  8. you should be able to move this at that price to a sweet soul collector for the "garden of eden" side
  9. Are you asking if this is the same group as the Upfronts on Lummtone out of LA? Because it's clearly not, the lead singer is clearly White and I'm not sure it's even soul (it is sort of belgian "popcorn" ish). What suggested the connection to the Upfronts? Or are you talking about a different Upfronts? Thanks.
  10. are you going to post anything else like audio, provenance, etc. or is that scan of the acetate the only evidence being provided? anyways, you should contact marv goldberg, the guy who does all the doowop interviews, as he probably would have some info.
  11. Yeah, I can't believe nobody else posted about the brothers of soul. Someone always calls my show to request the love i found in you: If I had a book Like a telephone directory That listed every heart in town You'd find me under happy and contented Because of the love i found in you
  12. I mentioned that the best song lyrics are the ones that transcend the generic love statements of the soul genre. One of my favorite songs of all time which I like for the song AND the lyrics is Smoked Sugar - Keeping up my front - 20th Century. I also like the Young Mods - I can't hurt you back, besides being one of the greatest sweet soul songs of all time, it's about a more specific situation where his girl hurt him but he loves her to much to hurt her back. One of the best breakup songs is the 21st - the sun came out, it's pretty funny, it's like "the sun came out the day you left" and talks about how much his life is better when he broke up.
  13. I guess he hasn't changed it yet, I don't know if he still buys a lot (even though his user ID is "cantbeoutbid"). Maybe he can answer himself here.
  14. yeah, those suits rule. they broke up right after this, I think their big argument started backstage at soul train.
  15. I saw this when it was on ebay recently. It's pretty awesome. Not awesome in a way that I would play it on my radio show, but ridiculous and enjoyable to listen to like as a novelty record.
  16. he moved back to the US (which is how he got access to his old storage of 45s that he was selling here).
  17. found it in popsike, thanks. cool version.
  18. Is this an acetate or a pressed record? Thanks.
  19. i would have been super polite if it was someone i didn't know. i think.
  20. do you have me on ignore now? i posted the ebay auction link above, someone bought it now for $4000 which is what he was asking for here.
  21. Here is the auction. that is indiana45s who offered it here first at the same price and nobody bought it. https://www.ebay.com/itm/MEGA-RARE-45-Hamilton-Movement-Shes-Gone-Look-Out-ORIGINAL-NOTHERN-SOUL-FUNK-M-/290665439720?pt=Music_on_Vinyl&hash=item43ad02a1e8#ht_499wt_1090
  22. Don't you need an "in" with Val to for him to let you browse?
  23. It could have been pressed twice, like after they ran out of the flat edged one they used a different plant or the plant changed how they did their pressing. Either way, that constitutes an original to me -- with most other records that are "original" they might have been the second or even 5th or 10th run and there's no way to tell.
  24. what did you get at val's?
