  1. Did it state the postage in the auction? If it did, it might be high, but I don't see how you could haggle afterwards. If he's sending it priority international or some other service, that might be the cost. If you get the package you can read the cost on the package. If it is much different than what he paid, email him asking for a partial refund. If he refuses (and postage wasn't stated in the auction) you can do a partial paypal chargeback for excessive postage.
  2. although in my experience it initially looks like you've damaged the label (looks like you've spilled oil on it or something) and you can start to panic thinking you ruined it, but it actually goes away in like a day.
  3. no, they are licensed from different people who each have some sort of claim to the masters. Both reissues originate from the US.
  4. Hi. On my radio show on Sunday I had guest DJ Kim Fuller spinning some of her 45s. Kim is a record collector and DJ originally from Buffalo, NY and currently lives in Richmond, VA. She did an excellent show that combined a lot of classic sweet soul cuts with some obscurities. I also played a short tribute to Soul Train at the start of the show in honor of Don Cornelius. You can download the show directly with the following link: https://www.sittinginthepark.com/2-5-2012.mp3? You can listen to my artist interviews as well as other shows via links on the main page:https://www.sittinginthepark.com Playlist follows. Thanks again for your interest. 5. This is probably the citrus-based remover.
  6. also, I hate that thread even more today
  7. I actually hate alcohol and don't drink. I was referring to the members. The westbound dudes were also armenian but Armen Boladian doesn't have the best reputation.
  8. I think the current generation of music is, if anything, more "truthful" and "real" as it's super explicit about things like sex that previous music only hinted at. It's less poetic though.
  9. it says "citrus base", I think citrus-based gunk removers are also sold as "gum-out"
  10. I'm looking for the other vanguards on shirley if someone has one...
  11. armenian soul music ... represent
  12. I interviewed Johnny McKinney (RIP), who is Johnny LeMac, he tells the whole story in his interview, it's on my webpage www.sittinginthepark.com sippin wine is only on chess, there were milwaukee-chess connections at the time (e.g. harvey scales). calvin carter did run J-V, but it had no Vee Jay connection
  13. I got a stock copy not a promo (linked above). Thanks.
  14. yes, it did get local play, which is why it was pressed so many times. the fact that it shows up beat up mean people bought it and played it.
  15. blue is the rarest, green is the slightly different mix with some added chimes
  16. thanks for the info, there are a lot of records rare in the US but common in the UK
  17. Dammit, why did I stop looking at their auctions like 8 years ago? Actually, it probably wouldn't have been worth the time involved every month looking at junk for 8 years to get this one record.
  18. PhillyDaveG, please come back and drop some more knowledge on this topic
  19. Isn't your whole thing buying good records, having them for a while, and reselling? If that's your mode of collecting, I don't see the point of regretting it, you got new records that are good to listen to.
  20. That must be it. Thanks so much.
  21. Actually lots of belgian popcorn is white pop music. I'm sorry I don't have any more info on this. Maybe someone else here will comment. Thanks.
  22. in some other random thread i was talking about how the gandalf lp on capitol is my favorite rock album of all time and posted a track from it.
  23. I can't tell if this is a subtle shot at me / reference to another thread but if it is ... it's very subtle. Don't make me post more psychedelic folk tracks.
  24. Did you also try posting on a more rock-oriented message board? Because this doesn't sound like soul music at all so people here probably wouldn't be much help. Sorry I have no idea who it might be. Thanks.
