isopropyl is good for cleaning records. it will get out some things that dish soap doesn't. dish soap gets out some things that the alcohol doesn't. and some other solvents will get out other things. i was just saying that there is no need to dilute it and it won't get everything out. EDIT: also, it's way stronger/better than ethanol at cleaning the record.

i think i have this if the above situation doesn't work out, on a yellow label?
-
Apparently from a TV special they did:
-
you probably know this steve but I have the renaldo domino on an original twinight 45. numero didn't know it was actually released at the time they reissued it.
-
"youngblood" was a super common nickname back then. The "smith" makes it more anonymous.
-
if the skip is caused by dirt and not a scratch you probably need to learn to better clean the record rather than running a needle back and forth over it. also, there's no need to dilute isopropyl alcohol, 100% isopropyl alcohol (which unrelatedly is dangerous to have because crystals can form at the rim of the bottle under certain conditions and explode) won't harm vinyl or styrene. it's not the only way to clean a record and isopropyl alcohol on its own doesn't penetrate the grooves well without a surfactant (wetting agent).

sorry i forgot to mention all the soul junction stuff, the best one so far for me is the elbowed out 45, totally excellent and overlooked.

another good new release (and limited): https://soundcloud.com/raymondlanier/nicole-willis-the-soul

Here's a recent numero thing that went under the radar. This was recorded in the '70s and we played this off a crappy cassette in my interview and the mastertapes were found in a load of stolen tapes and numero just released this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iKl3xVxsXq0 also, the 3 numero purple snow 45s are really excellent modern tracks.

that coming of man record ending next week isn't related to johnny littlejohn. that group evolved into the 9th creation. one of a few groups from stockton.
-
also, i just paid $30 for that felix thomas, haha, i could have had a better deal on auction here.
-
that arterials is one of the rarest and best sweet soul records, worth way more than that, wish i was paying attention.
-
i know he doesn't have stock, i was unable to get a copy indirectly at least
-
Jimmy Williams is the same guy, Gary Myers (writer of the Wisconsin music book) found him because he does research on Tide and the guy told him he did a single as E Williams on Jaa Dee. I can probably get a question to E Williams indirectly if someone wants to ask something specific (the question should not be "Do you have a copy of your record to sell me").

Joe Lopez had played me the young souls material off a CD-R in his car, he made up name for them, something like the "Fantasy Three". He also had material that was released (he had the Ivorys on Despenza which I pointed out to him when the track played) but wasn't even knowledgeable enough to know that it was released, and since the tapes weren't labeled, he probably would have licensed that stuff too. He had two CD-Rs worth of material.
-
i think it was a little different but i probably shouldn't get involved with threads like these unless there is some clear factual error. I didn't mean to offend Peter or anyone else. Thanks.
-
i respect someone's opinion of not liking his style of music but it's hard to deny his importance in African American music and culture. and he was never "jimmy".

I have a question about this obscure philly funk 45 (the Capri's on Nanticoke). The title listed on the b-side of all copies is "Come on up". My copy has a sticker over the title that has written on it "Old time religion" and it plays the traditional gospel song "give me that old time religion..." My question is, do all copies play this on the flip? I think that's probably the case because on that side, not stickered on, it says "Traditional". Is "Come on up" another name for the song that goes "give me that old time religion"? Are there copies that don't play this song on the flip? Also, are there other stickered copies or is this something more likely done by the owner of the record versus the dudes when they sent them out? Thanks in advance.
