  1. this is clearly store stock and not library or radio station stock. there are no markings on anything and the records are pretty much unplayed.
  2. the label was called Wise World though, there are other releases on the label. However, I could see why there would be a mistake printing of "Wide World".
  3. I have only ever seen it with a red label on styrene. Also, the font is different between wise world and wide world, like one has sort of weird slanty text and the other is block text.
  4. I agree, I was just saying it was possible, not that it was convenient, plus there's a 20k floor which makes it less likely at least for casual collectors. My friend who bids for me on some stuff actually has me write checks directly to "discover card" so it doesn't flow through his bank account (not sure if that's foolproof though).
  5. I'm sure you know it is possible to come up with documentation if you run your record selling as a business and do accounting for it. It's difficult to say that it's a business though if you're really selling just to get more records and pursue the hobby. I guess the 20k limit sort of accounts for that -- if someone gets more than 20k in their paypal account, it probably does exist as some sort of business.
  6. probably just a screw up at the pressing plant. I'm not sure if one is rarer than the other, in my experience I've seen them about the same amount... but although it was a hit in chicago, I haven't seen that many copies.
  7. It sounds really nice as a female group version. It also sounds like something is wrong with the mix though, like it's lo-fi or live or something. Was this ever released? Either way a nice version.
  8. My friend and I tried to license this two years ago but they refused, saying that they were going to redo it as a blues version and have a current hit. I guess they had a change of heart. It's great that more people will get to hear this material.
  9. dude lives like a mile from me but i have no idea who they are (besides the names that was on their package and the different name on their paypal account).
  10. the chicago lineup is in my interview but I would have to go back and listen. I am about to be offline for a while if someone else cares to listen and post here first.
  11. Roger, can you tell us if "breaking point" is the same song as Brad Lundy and Deena Johnson? Obviously the writers don't match but they already don't match on the lundy/johnson versions. Thanks.
  12. When there's something that you're passionate about and that has deep meaning for you, it's hard to imagine that it doesn't have a universal meaning for everyone and that everybody wouldn't like it. But there's pretty much nothing that everyone will like. I used to give out my radio show to people who, in hindsight, definitely didn't care. I understand now that people don't care or might not even have the time to invest in other people's obsessions. In fact your own interest in something might totally change over the years. My own interest in soul music has been expanded via doing a radio show, as, over time, I can "get" or understand sounds that I didn't care about before. Now I like all sorts of soul music in all sorts of different styles and tempos from the early 60s to the late 80s. But people who, for example, are just getting into the music that I liked 10 years ago might not appreciate all the sounds I like now.
  13. Although I wouldn't buy it because I don't collect british issues of US records, the british version of "my sweet baby" might be better for a DJ since I'm guessing it's vinyl and most US copies I've had (only a few, very hard with that side) are styrene burnt.
  14. I got a yellow copy, sorry. It's also in worse condition than was advertised. Do you like the monticellos on red cap version?
  15. I guess I'm not a good judge of this anyways since I don't really like the puffs record either. I remember getting it cheap from a discoveries auction and then playing it and not liking either side. I should listen again. So do other people like the Bee Gee Kay? Thanks.
  16. haha, I was right about stealing the song at least, Brad Lundy's version credits Lundy as the writer (although it also is slightly different on the two labels). Deena Johnson's version credits two different people. No version credits a St John but at this point I would have to hear the track to know.
  17. Thank you, I was confused. I must have sounded stupid on the radio when I played the Brad Lundy on the radio a few weeks ago and said it was also the same song as done by Sharon Soul...
  18. if it's the same ando label as the destinations it's philly, I'm not sure it's the same though.
  19. so are you posting it to alert people of a rare record that they should bid on or to alert people to an extremely terrible record?
  20. I do, but you also did not factor in my laziness in going to the other room where the records are to look at them. Lots of covers of obscure songs will not credit the actual songwriters and just are straight stolen though. If the name matched it definitely would be the same song but if the name didn't match, it still might have been the same song.
  21. okay... does that translate into a "yes" or "no"
  22. Cool. Some people take stuff too personally here so I wanted to be apologetic. I totally appreciate that there's different tastes and I actually appreciate the fact that some people even like music I hate because I feel like it's all history and I want someone to feel that it's important and care about it and document it.
  23. Is "the breaking point" the same song done by Sharon Soul and Brad Lundy?
