  1. did you just PM someone about his want from feb 2010?
  2. oh that sucks, sorry. personally I would take it back but I agree that you did sell it described as poor and as is so it's fair not to accept returns. the problem is that if the person puts in a paypal claim they will get their money back anyways. if you get the claim, you can force them to at least return it to you and pay for tracking. you also risk a negative though which sucks.

  4. are you saying that he returned it and you resold it to someone else, and you're asking whether to give the original buyer (who returned it) his money back? sorry if I'm confused and reading your message wrong.
  5. yeah that was stupid. i apologized... sorry again George.
  6. yeah, I would go so far as to say it's rare. Maybe there was some stock of it a long time ago but there also was stock of the salvadors, etc. What I don't understand though is a really expensive price for a bad condition copy, almost as much as a mint one.
  7. It could be possible that the skimming removed some dirt that would have also been removed via cleaning. It definitely doesn't "remove" scratches though.
  8. I don't understand, or maybe my question wasn't clear (sorry). The poets on symbol all came out in 1966. I think the J2 record is after the symbol records. Also, it fills in the two year gap between their symbol and veep records.
  9. one question -- is the J2 record before or after the symbol records? It sounds more sophisticated and later to me. It also would help explain the smaller run as the label was winding down.
  10. I really appreciate the compliment. If there are specific artists you specifically would want to interview, let me know and I can possibly hook you up. I have a huge backlog of chicago people and some non-Chicago people to interview, and I know people who know other people, etc. Thanks again.
  11. There definitely was not any quantity of mint four voices sold on ebay. If you believe that to be true, it's definitely the Four Tracks on Mandingo. That link you just provided of the four voices was of different copies from different sources from different sellers in all sorts of different conditions.
  12. It seems unlikely that juggy would produce 2 "Poets". Maybe it was just a tiny vanity sublabel and sue didn't press that much?
  13. you are thinking of the four tracks on mandingo. That has finally gone back up with a few people selling non-mint copies recently and the bidding going to about $1000
  14. it is the same song. before anybody confuses this thread every time a song with this title comes up -- it is different than the intruders / IAP company song
  15. Garethx: not disagreeing with anything you are writing, just pointing out that although it mostly published songs recorded by motown artists, it did do some publishing of non-motown songs by independent songwriters, so not all songs were recorded by or even intended to be recorded by motown artists. I appreciate all the context you added -- I didn't realize that they had some songwriters under exclusive contract. I also never knew about the other publishing companies motown established with other goals. Thanks for all the details.
  16. you should always put in a dispute before 45 days, even if it seems like you are having an agreeable exchange with the seller, you can tell them that you don't want to lose the ability to do so and that you're not planning to escalate it to a "claim." Then you at least have the option of escalating.
  17. Private auctions negatively affect my actions as a buyer, as they are often (obviously not always) the tool of a shill bidding seller. Otherwise, I guess they're useful for sensitive items like porn or something.
  18. Jobete was motown's publilshing arm but it was operated as a publishing company and not just a company to publish motown songs, right? Just the other day someone was telling me that he wrote some songs in the late 70s that Jobete published. I don't know if there was any specific intent for a motown artist to record them. I always assumed that the valaquans, for example, was never recorded by or even intended to be recorded by a motown artist.
  19. i just started a thread on this on another message board. I asked for a photo in a polite message and didn't get a response. I'm calling ebay tomorrow to see what I can do, since reporting them using the ebay interface is impossible or useless. I also requested this person's phone number so I can call him. If he's going to lie, at least he needs to have the balls to lie when confronted on the phone. I wouldn't be very upset by a single one of these, I would just blow it off (which I have been doing), but I have had a lot of instances of this recently and I would like to have a generic set of actions to take on each one.
  20. I did not know that and the auction didn't state that. I guess John got lucky that at least two bidders did know that.
  21. it was his biggest hit, wasn't it? I think it's a pretty good song. Obviously many copies were sold and promoed though.
  22. ok, I'll sit on this one for a little longer then. Hopefully Mike (the original poster) gets sorted out easily for cheap.
  23. I have a copy but I don't know what this goes for now
  24. mike curtis said he needed a copy i think
  25. thanks again everyone. I don't know what neil sedaka sounds like actually. I hope I am related in a way that gets me royalties.
