  1. I paid more than that for a worse condition of the reggie saddler. A bunch of other stuff was expensive though.
  2. no but they probably are also watching it on ebay. i go through all items ending in a day, watch items i'm interested in, and then put in snipes. i could go back and delete the watches but that wouldn't accomplish much.
  3. whenever someone in the US sees a record they own go for 4 figures, dollar signs light up in their eyes
  4. is that seller rudy tee of rudy and the reno bops?
  5. In a couple of days I'm emailing out a list of sweet soul group 45s. Mostly under the radar stuff that is less than $100 or even $50. All records that I think are excellent, no crap. PM me your name and email address if you are interested in receiving the list. Hopefully this is the first of many lists. Thanks a lot.

  7. you're saying that trashed copy that just ended was VG+? This copy? https://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&_trksid=p4340.l2557&hash=item46036058cb&item=300704356555&nma=true&pt=Music_on_Vinyl&rt=nc&si=xgr51AfjJ7hDyS4I%252BH%252FVebg8bUI%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc#ht_500wt_922
  8. I have experienced most of these but most were in basements and not storage units. I got hooked up with the guy with the most ridiculous collection I went through because in the 70s he managed a porno theater that my friend was a busker for. It was super hot and we were in his basement and he was in his bedroom above us shirtless (he didn't have an air conditioner) and his whole bedroom was lined with copied VHS tapes. I don't know if they were classic movies or porn but it was creepy. Afterwards he made us drive him to the grocery store and back and he smashed his cart into my car, scratching it. He died like a year ago and big Chicago collector Bob Stallworth got all of his records.
  9. have you seen poop in a storage unit?
  10. Thanks for filling in the information btw. Is there a reason you're not giving the city?
  11. I definitely don't think of them as a vocal group. They were pretty much a band, and they rarely sang harmony (or even had backup vocals).
  12. I assume from your comments you saw this: https://southerngaragebands.com/poppafoxx.html They don't exactly look like a soul band and the bio doesn't help.
  13. getting off topic, but once my friend and I paid a label owner's family's back rent on their storage space (like $450) and spend a whole saturday cleaning it out. It was extra disgusting, they actually had put FOOD in there, wtf? There were like bags of baby carrots that were just a brown mushy liquid. And they looked at every piece of garbage we pulled out acting like they needed it. Anyways, at the end there were no records in the storage unit.
  14. I agree with almost all of this, I just think there were more than 25 sold. But I never got in contact with the guy with copies (should have bought some to resell) so I have no idea how many there were. Also, unless you're talking about a very long time ago, the satin and curtis anderson never dropped very much despite the quantity. I think I remember the curtis anderson guy had 26 copies, and the satin guy had very few.
  15. I think the copies that came out got distributed already and it's going back up. I saw one as low as $50. My friend decided a couple of weeks ago he wanted a copy and the cheapest he got one for was $125. By "going back up" I don't think it will ever be what it was originally though and am not sure if it will be "rare" or not.
  16. This is what I was trying to say above but you said it more articulately. The thing that's good about it is that it forces the buyer to not only pay return shipping but also pay for tracking which could be expensive.
  17. This sounds like they just transformed it in to "neo-soul". Marvin was a pioneer in terms of sounds, neo-soul probably wouldn't exist without "sexual healing." I don't know if he would like this particular mashup but if he were making music today I don't think it would sound very different.
  18. it doesn't sound islands to me, it sounds like a white garage group. i got a copy 7-8 years ago in one of craig moerer's first auctions. at the time the publishing was in BMI online. It's not now. I don't remember where it went, I think it was somewhere in california.
  19. was it nice and fresh at the time?
  20. sweet side is killer.
  21. There was also an unrelated Little Tommy in Gary / East Chicago, Indiana. He is Tommy Payton. He cut a few records in Chicago and then went to LA, it's the same guy as on Tangerine (which I'm still looking for a stock copy of...).
  22. it's just a cheesy disco remake. nice or not, i can't see that ever being "fresh".
  23. He owned Chytowns and Jerma. I don't remember seeing his name on onederful or marvlus labels, it would be interesting to see if that's the case. This one guy in Chicago bought all the copies of his LP around like 1995.
  24. yes. this little tommy is Tyrone Thomas, later solo recording as well as lead of the Whole Darn Family.
