  1. Yes, a memory record for me also. First heard in the Highland room and at the time thought it was great! Picked up shortly afterwards at Cleethorpes and the like, to get even more plays for a time before vanishing for another song to take it's place! Not so much a fave now though, I still have my copy but never think to listen to it these days. I did know about the Adrissi Brothers involvement and that they were in fact a group, not a person. Which could well have swayed my feelings away from it just a little...
  2. If you really stretch your imagination, you could sing "Make up for lost time" along to it. But I'm not really convinced that it's the tune they sampled or even based the song on. I have both the Montclairs and Mikki Honeycutt versions of that song, but can't really offer any better idea right now.
  3. You're not confusing it with The Jones Brothers on Bell & Seel by any chance? "That's all over baby" / "Without your love"
  4. I had the same happen to me only a few months back. I paid someone for some records (naturally) and got a message from Paypal that an eCheque was issued. My account is also linked to my bank account and there was enough there to pay for it. I contacted the seller first off as I wondered if it was something they'd done when they sent the invoice. They had done nothing any different from usual either. But it wasn't a problem as they didn't wait for it to clear before sending the 'goods'. Nothing on my Paypal account to show why it happened either - but it had! I'm still no wiser now...
  5. I always liked Ozone - "Our hearts will always shine" on Motown Loads of Willie Hutch tracks, including most of his "Ode to my lady" LP Smokey Robinson & The Miracles "Flying high together" on Motown
  6. There's a Japanese copy up in sales right now, if it's any good to you. David Harrison's Some surplus bits to go
  7. What's a decent copy going for these days? It was well into double figures at one time, but probably around £100 or so I guess these days. I'll have a look around and see if anything turns up.
  8. Any change of seeing a scan / photo of this LP? I guess it's not the same tracks as on the Gamble Records All Stars LP?
  9. I tried getting on around 12:30 or so and got the same result. So I googled it and found this very informative site: https://www.isitdownrightnow.com/discogs.com.html It checked the site and confirmed it was down. Then I spotted numerous comments further down the page which explained a little about what was going on and also I noticed that some people could get on using mobile phones / data but not on a computer. An interesting site, if you like that kind of thing - which lets you check lots of websites etc and see the current status, the home page is https://www.isitdownrightnow.com/
  10. Hi Steve, I did a bit of researching into the SPSR series a while back on Facebook - I can't think off hand which group it was (if any) but it was concerning this actual record and the series is an EMI related pressing. I found most of the info about it on 45Cat, but no mention of this 45, but it's easy to work out the number 427 relates to a 1977 'release' Check out these links and you'll have a better idea, it seems the series used 'SPSR' and also 'PSR' with the same numbering continuation A few 'SPSR' releases here: https://www.45cat.com/45_search.php?sq=Spsr*&sm=cn https://www.45cat.com/45_forum_topic_view.php?t=2170&h=p14619#p14619 'PSR' here: https://www.45cat.com/45_search.php?sq=*PSR+*&sm=cn Your Diana Ross single is of course "Love hangover" - as can be seen at number 37 in this list: https://www.45cat.com/45_list_view_record.php?li=185 I could go on, but I think you get the idea - the only other one I think I have is the Stevie Wonder "Christmas Greetings From Motown 1977" at number 42 But this really ought to be on another thread - not on your wants! Good luck!
  11. Giving this thread a bump on Steve's behalf so as not to upset the mods any further. Not really much help to finding you a copy of the Love Committee UK Test pressing, but the earliest thread about it is here: /forums/topic/65170-love-committee-tired-of-being-alone/ Here's a scan of my copy: The flip side is blank and the only info in the runout is SPSR 427-1
  12. The flipside of the UK Test pressing is blank Sean - as you no doubt will have realised by now!
  13. I always thought it a bit odd as to why it got a release in Italy but no other country other than Australia released it? I don't think it was a big seller in either country, the Italian copies do show up occasionally, but not much in the scheme of things. But why did they choose to promote it back to back with Abba?
  14. I remember this going off in the mid 70's and into the 80's - it used to really annoy me - show offs, that's all they are! Yes the odd record may have been in a box because they's either borrowed it from someone or had it returned from someone, but in the main they are just showing off - lots of us could do that, but we don't do we!
  15. Not forgetting all those who contributed to the mag!
  16. I can't recall it being on a single, just this LP and her own LP on Astroscope Titled 'This Is Eleanore Mills' https://www.discogs.com/Eleanore-Mills-This-Is-Eleanore-Mills/master/327186
  17. I've also had similar problems with sellers on Discogs - selling the wrong record in relation to the listing, i.e. a demo when it's listed as an issue and the other way around, and sometimes even from a completely different country to the one listed! I do realise that some records were probably listed for sale before the correct one was later created and although you could say it's the seller's fault for not creating a listing to match the one they have for sale, I find creating a new entry on there from scratch hard work and can appreciate not all of the sellers have the time to do that. But at the very least they could include in the comments what the differences are, including mentioning if the correct sleeve (where appropriate) is included. Of course, some actually do that already. I've now resorted to asking any questions about the record in the order extra information / comments box when placing the order - if it really matters to me. But it is a pain having to do to it and I've STILL had the wrong record sent because the seller never saw my question. I have asked twice in some cases if they sent an invoice without confirming my query! I reckon it's the Discogs system that's the problem, although it can be great for separating out all the different variations that can exist in a record to make a more accurate database - it's probably not the easiest to understand when creating an entry. I have a feeling that the selling of an item has been added as an afterthought to just creating the database.
  18. Hmmm - it does seem odd that someone would go to the trouble of bootlegging this. Although it's been played on and off over the years - was it really ever popular enough to warrant it? Agreed, that number makes it at least a 1973 release, which for something done on an LP in 1969 doesn't make it totally impossible. Although, as the label belonged to Ray Charles who, when he left ABC (The parent label of Tangerine) then set up Crossover Records in 1973. Logic says it would have been released on Crossover instead.... It certainly looks nice though either way!
  19. Nice one Mark! I love to hear about connections like this where artists we know were connected in one way or another to each other.
  20. There's loads of them, as well as the above mentioned titles, here's a few more that come to mind - there will be plenty more I've missed though: 100 Proof - "Don't you wake me" - Hot Wax Honey Cone - "If I can fly" - Hot Wax Honey Cone - "Somebody Is Always Messing Up A Good Thing" / "The truth will come out" - Hot Wax Satisfaction Unlimited - "Let's Change The Subject" - Hot Wax Just Brothers - "You've got the love to make me over" - Music Merchant Melvin Davis - "You made me over" / "I'm worried" / "Just as long" - Invictus Freda Payne - "We've got to find a way back to love" / "Two wrongs don't make a right" - Invictus
  21. It's on Discogs as the flip side to "Sorry" - TC 2418 but no sales info though.
  22. Soulful Kinda Music shows it as coming out twice on Chi-Sound. I've a feeling it might have got a UK release as well, unless I'm confusing it with The Chi-Lites? No idea on a price though.
  23. I just noticed the boot copy shows 'Side two' and the title says "I'm controlled..." Whereas the original doesn't state the side and the title this time says "I'am controlled..." Among other more obvious things!
  24. That LP is called "Get up and get down" Also contains Annette Snell - "You oughta be here with me", Joneses - "Hey babe" and The Dramatics - " Choosing up on you" The whole LP isn't bad really
  25. I'm thinking Gary Rushbrook played it at Clifton Hall? That's where I first rememember hearing it.
