  1. No idea of the Sonet LP price Mike, but I have one: Different cover to the US issue, but otherwise it's the same!
  2. Guilty as charged - having a word with Garry & Linda Sharpley. Also spotted Derek White, coming back from the bar with a few beers. Quite a few others on there I recognised also! That was definately Canklow as I don't think I got to the Aquarius Sunday night do's - usually went to Capones in Rotherham when I was on the right shift for a night out. That one of The Travellers Rest, I spotted a brief shot of the Pinches Brothers Dave and Bri. Doesn't time fly...
  3. Does the direction of brushing make much of a difference then? I tend to use a nail brush with a little soap and just luke warm water to wash it off, but mainly brush backwards and forwards along the grooves. Never really thought if the direction mattered - until you mentioned it
  4. Can anyone explain just how the 'pitch' numbering works? As in relation to the records original speed that is - say the original speed is 1, how does +1, +2, +3 etc relate to that? Is there an actual relationship to the increase in speed, like in a percentage or something? Does +2 equate to something like 1.2% and so on? I know it can't be exactly like that as +8 would be going on to be twice the original speed, but I think you should get my drift! Just curious...cos I'm a bit thick on this sort of thing!
  5. I guess I better 'come clean' and own up to be one of your secret listeners! More so since you've made the shows available to download - I work shifts so can't always listen 'live'. So the downloads go on my player and accompany me in the car to work and back as I listen to them. There's always the odd lesser known or forgotten gem to be heard - along with other great tunes. Keep it up - much appreciated
  6. Y'know Pete, I semi thought I must have heard about this idea somewhere before! It must have been from you
  7. I think the question is more about is the yellow label copy from Canada? Weren't the usual copies blue?
  8. Actually that might be worth a try! Don't opticians have an ultrasonic cleaner for glasses (Spectacles)? Has anyone ever tried one?
  9. I seem to think 'Drop in the bucket' was on a "From the vaults" LP in the 80's, not sure about the other one though...?
  10. If you're gonna be 'pedantic' - actually it's a 7" but it plays at 33! But I wasn't going to mention it to Steve this time
  11. Steve, it doesn't sound any different to the 45 recording to my ears, I haven't thought to check if it's in stereo, but the album cover and labels do say 'Stereo' So it's a fair bet that it actually is! When I get a chance, I'll have another listen... and I'll time it for you if you want
  12. Lovely record this one - every home should have one
  13. Also on the CD 'The ABC's of Soul" Track listing here: https://www.answers.com/topic/abc-s-of-soul-vol-2-classics-from-the-abc-records-catalog-1969-1974
  14. Well well, I definately don't recall this one! Was it only out on a 'best of' album, or was there an earlier release? Just curious...
  15. Just read the rest of my original post... it's all there, pics and all! /forums/topic/121248-soul-explosion-lp/page__p__1242649__fromsearch__1entry1242649
  16. Errr - don't you mean "Be my baby"? - Or did they actually cover "You baby" I've got "Be my baby" by the Ronnettes on London but can't say I'm aware of "You baby"
  17. Got me thinking this one.. I've got the UK A& M demo US demo Australian issue and the above mentioned one, which I actually got for the 'Angel' side - cos I like it! Sad I know...
  18. Just for those who may not know - Len's version was from his LP "It's that time of the year" But it also 'sneaked' out on UK MCA in the early 70's as the flip side to "123"
  19. I'd go for the Israeli LP - thats not a boot
  20. It's actually a slightly different recording to the LP version as well Sorry John, no spare copy though
  21. Brett, I don't suppose any of you wrote down what was played on the show? It would just save me going through it all and doing it myself
  22. I know nothing about this group except for the 45 on UK Dart - (and of course the President (?) compilation LP it also came out on) I don't recall seeing it on any US label either, there's a slight chance it got a bit of a review in B&S when it was released, so maybe someone has more info?
  23. That would be an entirely different story though eh Ian (A version by Bobby Taylor that is!)
