Right, for anyone who just might be interested, here's an update on this album.
It arrived today and as suspected it IS material from the GSF label, in fact it's actually on GSF, albeit not quite like the one we know.
Here's the track listing from the back cover:
Note the Anderson Brothers and Blanch Carter tracks were as suspected, the Garnet Mimms isn't bad either!
Here's the labels:
Makes you wonder if they released any 45s on this logo in Israel doesn't it?
There's no mention of the year of release, but I would imagine it was probably during the early 70's while the US label was still active?

You'll probably know the Dee Dee Warwick CD is around with most of her Mercury / Blue Rock material on?
Called I want to be with you, The Mercury / Blue Rock sessions
It's only got "Don't you ever give up" on, not the other side - unfortunately
-
In my Top Five of all time - and Ive played it out in the last year or so - Classic Mecca tune
I have a RCA demo and thats gotta be rare- Turned down the RCA issue a couple of years ago silly me!
What's that then - Canadian RCA?
-
Just remembered I've also got one of those adaptors which allowed you to play cassette tapes in the 8 track players.
From Tandys (Radio Shack) if I recall...
-
My dad had one in his car around 1972 / 73, we also had a player for the house. (It just played though not a recorder.)
I bought a few soul tapes for it to listen to mainly in the car.
Motown disco classics, a few other assorted compilations etc. I forget just what they were now.
The car player and speakers were Radiomobile and after having them in the loft for many years, I put them on eBay around 10 years ago and they went to a guy in the USA for his british sports car.
Some of the tapes also went on the bay, some 'may' still be in the loft, with the house player?

Presume your buying it for the cover and not the musical content
Hi Mick - a bit of both really
I've still not heard back yet, but as it's already in the post, I'll post more when it lands.
Yes, the Anderson Brothers was a one sider, so it's a good chance we'll know that track!
Only two sides of Blanche Carter were on the label , so it has to be one of them, the others had more than one release, so who knows on those?

Looking through one of the usual sites, I came across this description of an LP for sale:
Mint Israeli LP of Soul explosion on Local Gal Ron label.
This compilation includes songs of Garnet Mimms, LLoyd Price, Anderson Brothers, Blanch Carter, Liberation, Winfield Parker, Joe Quarterman and Sound Experience.
Now to me it looks like a GSF records compilation, but I've never heard of one?
I've contacted the seller for more info, but not had a reply as yet...
Interesting cover too

I'd also advise anyone to go for the issue if they get chance.
"Save the love" is a wonderful piece of music
-
Anyone heard it by the Delfonics?
Sounds like something they 'could' have done around the "Loving her" period
-
In my defence, might I just add that the ones I got rid of were NOT soul records, just ones I'd picked up over the years in 'bundles' - such as 10 for a quid type of thing.
They just looked interesting but actually were cr*p!

I once took a load to a (not so) local charity shop, never been back since!

I think you'll find Phillip is her Brother - As is Milton:
All about Phillip Wright.
Now known as "Simply Phillip", an Entertainer since the age of 7 years old, Phillip joined his Mother Rosa Akins Wright, who organized a family singing group with her six children while she played the guitar, and naming them the Echoes of Joy, a Gospel singing Group. The family performed in Miami as the Host Children's Group whenever there was a Gospel Concert held in Miami during the 1950's. They also performed in other Genres over the State of Florida. Later learning to play the guitar and changing to performing in Night clubs with a calypso band, Phillip's first Night Club Performance was at the Knight Beat Club in Miami at the Sir John Hotel. As guitarist with a calypso band called the Downbeats. Phillip began touring with Commedian Flip Wilson in 1957. He also played guitar for Sam Cooke, Chubby Checker, Hank Ballard, Jerry Butler, the Chiffons, and many more known Recording Artists. As the years passed and maturity set in, Phillip begin performing as a guitarist with King Curtis and the Kingpins, with Cissy Houston and the Sweet Inspirations, Erma Franklin, Junior Walker and the All stars, Joey Garcia and the Greatful Dead, Jimmi Hendrix, Patti Labelle, Sonny and Cher, Jimmy Ruffin, the Perfections, Dee Dee Warwick, and Screaming Jay Hawkins. In the earlier years he played guitar with his brother Charles Wright's band called the Afro Beats. Phillip grew up in Miami, Florida and Boston Massachusetts. He also recorded with his other brother Judge Milton Wright Jr. who can be heard on 2 albums. One of those albums is still a big hit in Europe that is called "Friends and Buddies". Phillip recorded with his sister the Super Star Performer, Writer, and Producer Ms. Betty Wright. As well, he recorded with KC and the Sunshine Band that included his other sister Ms. Jeannette Wright. Phillip has had an extremely long and successful career in the Entertainment Field. Now ready for the world to listen to his first Contemporary Gospel Jazz Cd called "Simply Phillip".

I've never heard it played out, but understand it's been or still is popular in Europe?
Last price I remember was over 100 UKP
I don't particulaly like it myself though, much prefer Dee Ervin or Chuck Jackson

GOT A NICE WHITE DEMO OF THIS ONE. NOT THAT COMMON EITHER
DAVE
Ha ha... so have I... and one of the issues too
Not certain which variant the issue is though!
-
Love the Ike Noble - 'Deep with a beat' - as someone once said!
-
Well, I suppose it's got a bit more substance than a mis-titled download from iTunes hasn't it
-
That reminds me I have a copy of the Adorables on Golden World - "Ooh boy" / "Devil in his eyes" which plays the Four Tops - "Ain't that love" / "Lonely summer"
Which was a 1965 Columbia re-issue of a 1960 release.
It took years to work out what it really was as it doesn't sound like the Four Tops as we know them!
[Dave Flynn finally traced it via the matrix no ZSP 110951 / 2]
Maybe this could be the start of a new form of collecting?
-
Yes, I have to agree, I first heard it via a Manship 'new releases' tape in the early 8o's, picked up the LP long before I came across the 45.
I just doesn't seem to turn up does it!
BTW Steve W - I still quite like the flip side to 'Cisselin Hot' - "Do you believe" ...nice!
-
Me too - Ask if he's got any photos from when they recorded the song, that would be good

I certainly did, Googled, Amazoned, Ebayed, you name it - I tried it
But nothing else shows up, just this one
Pity they didn't go the whole hog and include Connie Laverne as well eh
