  1. Correct Joe - it did come out on Pye over here
  2. Maybe someone ought to show them the thread (s) on here with all the scans of the record in it's various forms - that one is definitely a boot
  3. CD single here: https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/LUTHER-VANDROSS-Are-You-Using-Me-MASTERS-AT-WORK-MIX-CD_W0QQitemZ360239170726QQcmdZViewItemQQptZMusic_CDs?hash=item53dfed84a6
  4. I don't know about who 'discovered' this LP, but back in the late 70's there were quite a few copies of this in a cut out shop in Doncaster - it was around the time Frank Dell's "He broke your game wide open" started getting played. I remember getting a copy of each album from there. So I'd assume it was just some importer who shipped them over along with other various LPs, not particularly someone brought this particular LP over. They were 50 pence ish or thereabouts as I recall?
  5. That was the only reason I bought my copy - which just happened to be a demo! Awesome tune it is!
  6. Maybe not on a 45, but it's an LP track - lovely version it is too!
  7. No mate - 'Jadan' - Johnny Moore and Jack Daniels productions are a fave team in my book!!
  8. Here's more: VOICEMASTERS-DANCE RIGHT IN TO MY HEART-BAMBOO PROMO - VOICE MASTERS - IF A WOMAN CATCHES A FOOL - BAMBOO -
  9. It's already up on Refosoul Try this: VOICE MASTERS - YOUVE HURT ME BABY - BAMBOO -
  10. Thanks Ken I think that answers my question anyway, the two tracks being the same length, sound the same and are way below 4 mins, so I'd say the UK release is the same as the US vocal / Instrumental release. The side with 'knowing' is just over 4 mins long - I've not found out my US copy of it to compare it though yet to see how different they are to each other. Cheers!
  11. Yes, I've had it since the late 70's - it's Barbara & Brenda allright. I've never seen an issue on this logo though, I suppose with Dynamo being part of Musicor, the major label were going to put it out on a larger scale - but maybe it just never happened?
  12. This one can't be narrowed down to just one, but just for this moment in time I'd go for: Maxine Brown's "Don't leave me baby" on Epic - one 'Epic' performance from the lady!
  13. You've got both too - and don't know if they are different mixes either?? What are we like!!
  14. This has got me thinking... I've got the US copy with "Knowing..." on the flip side and the UK EMI demo - which has got the instrumental flip as "Dynamite explodes..." BUT - as I wasn't aware that there were two different mixes of the A side (Until Dave mentioned it in post #6) It poses another question that I can't answer (without finding my copies out) Can anyone say if the UK (vocal side) release is the same mix as the US vocal with Instrumental release? I'd never thought to compare them side by side as I just thought they were all the same - now I'm beginning to think maybe not. If so, then no problem as that means I have all the versions already!
  15. Still not come across any of mine yet... must be in the loft somewhere Next time I go up, I'll have a look for you
  16. One on Manship's auction at the moment, currently £65 - but maybe you know about that one
  17. I've had this since the mid 70's, always had a soft spot for it! Mines a UK demo also... But can't say as I ever heard it played out. I always thought of it as a Southern (UK) play, that probably got played down south in the funk clubs at that time. Anyone confirm this?
  18. I guess you've already seen these copies?: https://www.gemm.com/ddc/search.pl?&disp_ad_format_mode=0&artist=ROSS%2CJACKIE&price_above=%2E001&&title=DON'T+CHANGE+YOUR+MIND+/+WHO+COULD+BE+LOVING+YOU&price_above=%2E001&&mi=197401631|1427341072|234355304|234280796|8757323|147791624|292667650|200018872|966017399|189922897|307569439 And these: https://www.gemm.com/ddc/search.pl?&disp_ad_format_mode=0&artist=ROSS%2CJACKIE&price_above=%2E001&&title=WHO+COULD+BE+LOVING+YOU&price_above=%2E001&&mi=970056620|1436113437
  19. Was that a clue Ady? Just got this from the Ace records website, part of the review for the album, written by David Cole: Elsewhere Al makes By The Time I Get To Phoenix - another Jim Webb composition - his own and delivers a classy Willie Hutch beat-ballad with a strong hook in Who Could Be Lovin' You (Other Than Me), his first Soul City 45 which has background support from the Blossoms. https://www.acerecords.co.uk/content.php?page_id=59&release=7731 Lovely song it is though! - I think I have all the versions mentioned above. Were there any others?
  20. Can't say as I've noticed a black release of this, but have come across others on this label which were black. Just had a look at the Sound Gems site... interesting bits of info on there! I wasn't aware that William DeVaughan's hit "Be thankful for what you got" was first out on that label Always something new to learn eh...
  21. I don't have a definative answer either, with regards to whether the green or blue coloured UK Motown demos came out came out in any specific order - or even if it really makes any diference. I have lots of these, both blue ones and green ones, I think I even have both variations of "Tailgate" My copy of "Rode by the place" demo is green with a date of release as November 25th 1977 - that release was TMG 1093 "Tailgate" was TMG 1075 if that means anything... Hope this helps somehow?
