....and another thing Plumby.....whilst discussing your LP only tracks set.....Detroit Emeralds - Long Live The King..... is also on UK Phonogram 45...
Never seen an Outer Mongolian 45 release though.....
If you're gonna be 'pedantic' - actually it's a 7" but it plays at 33!
But I wasn't going to mention it to Steve this time
-
Gobsmacked!
What a find!
Is it the same mix, longer, shorter, is it stereo or mono????????????
Well done mate
Cheers
Steve
Steve, it doesn't sound any different to the 45 recording to my ears, I haven't thought to check if it's in stereo, but the album cover and labels do say 'Stereo'
So it's a fair bet that it actually is!
When I get a chance, I'll have another listen... and I'll time it for you if you want
-
Lovely record this one - every home should have one
-
Also on the CD 'The ABC's of Soul"
Track listing here:

Well well, I definately don't recall this one!
Was it only out on a 'best of' album, or was there an earlier release?
Just curious...
-
So you got it then John.........let's have the details already...
Just read the rest of my original post... it's all there, pics and all!
-
ronnettes also on uk london - i've got a copy of that
Errr - don't you mean "Be my baby"? - Or did they actually cover "You baby"
I've got "Be my baby" by the Ronnettes on London but can't say I'm aware of "You baby"
-
Got me thinking this one..
I've got the UK A& M demo
US demo
Australian issue
and the above mentioned one, which I actually got for the 'Angel' side - cos I like it!
Sad I know...
-
I didn't John, it would mean listening to the whole thing again, a few i remember
.... i think thats all my playlist John.
Brett Franklin
Thanks Brett - that's a start at least
-
Just for those who may not know - Len's version was from his LP "It's that time of the year"
But it also 'sneaked' out on UK MCA in the early 70's as the flip side to "123"
-
I'd go for the Israeli LP - thats not a boot
-
It's actually a slightly different recording to the LP version as well
Sorry John, no spare copy though
-
Brett,
I don't suppose any of you wrote down what was played on the show?
It would just save me going through it all and doing it myself
-
I know nothing about this group except for the 45 on UK Dart - (and of course the President (?) compilation LP it also came out on)
I don't recall seeing it on any US label either, there's a slight chance it got a bit of a review in B&S when it was released, so maybe someone has more info?
-
That would be an entirely different story though eh Ian
(A version by Bobby Taylor that is!)
-
Yes it's him
-
I think it looks a bit like your Avatar Mike!
-
This is the album, contains one of my old faves "Is it it"
Tracklisting is here: https://music.aol.com/album/whatever-turns-you-on/28623

Nice one Steve!
BTW - The Moments CD is called "Moments to remember"
-
I wasn't going to mention this one Steve, but since you've mentioned it - it's not actually bad... but not as good as JRB, let alone Donny
-
I'll be following the 'A Taste of Soul' line of course BUT will try to play records that folks from Yorkshire will like too
Cheers
Steve
Oi - I think I might 'resemble' that remark too!
-
Out of the two (entirely different) songs which share the same title, I would have to go for.....
Donny and Bobby
Both the better versions IMHO
-
Well I picked up my David Walker promo up before that Pete
It was just another record to make numbers up off a market stall though - I didn't actually know of the Paradox record until it got a mention by Clarkie in Steve G's mag. Even then it was some time until I connected the two as being the same tune!
-
You're safest with an issue - it has a flip side - "Hello you again"
Apparantly an ex Blackpool Mecca spin, but I don't recall hearing it?
That issue was never booted
