Great stuff... Small world... Love the voicemasters stuff.
Would someone please put up.. " you've hurt me baby" ... Top tune!!
It's already up on Refosoul
Try this:
VOICE MASTERS - YOUVE HURT ME BABY - BAMBOO -
-
Thanks Ken
I think that answers my question anyway, the two tracks being the same length, sound the same and are way below 4 mins, so I'd say the UK release is the same as the US vocal / Instrumental release.
The side with 'knowing' is just over 4 mins long - I've not found out my US copy of it to compare it though yet to see how different they are to each other.
Cheers!

Yes, I've had it since the late 70's - it's Barbara & Brenda allright.
I've never seen an issue on this logo though, I suppose with Dynamo being part of Musicor, the major label were going to put it out on a larger scale - but maybe it just never happened?
-
This one can't be narrowed down to just one, but just for this moment in time I'd go for:
Maxine Brown's "Don't leave me baby" on Epic - one 'Epic' performance from the lady!
-
You've got both too - and don't know if they are different mixes either??
What are we like!!
-
This has got me thinking... I've got the US copy with "Knowing..." on the flip side and the UK EMI demo - which has got the instrumental flip as "Dynamite explodes..."
BUT - as I wasn't aware that there were two different mixes of the A side (Until Dave mentioned it in post #6)
It poses another question that I can't answer (without finding my copies out) Can anyone say if the UK (vocal side) release is the same mix as the US vocal with Instrumental release?
I'd never thought to compare them side by side as I just thought they were all the same - now I'm beginning to think maybe not.
If so, then no problem as that means I have all the versions already!
-
Still not come across any of mine yet... must be in the loft somewhere
Next time I go up, I'll have a look for you
-
One on Manship's auction at the moment, currently £65 - but maybe you know about that one
-
I've had this since the mid 70's, always had a soft spot for it!
Mines a UK demo also...
But can't say as I ever heard it played out. I always thought of it as a Southern (UK) play, that probably got played down south in the funk clubs at that time.
Anyone confirm this?
-
I guess you've already seen these copies?:
And these:
-
Does Tony mention it in the sleevenotes of Al's Kent CD?
Was that a clue Ady?
Just got this from the Ace records website, part of the review for the album, written by David Cole:
Elsewhere Al makes By The Time I Get To Phoenix - another Jim Webb composition - his own and delivers a classy Willie Hutch beat-ballad with a strong hook in Who Could Be Lovin' You (Other Than Me), his first Soul City 45 which has background support from the Blossoms.

Lovely song it is though! - I think I have all the versions mentioned above.
Were there any others?

Hear Hear Paul!

Can't say as I've noticed a black release of this, but have come across others on this label which were black.
Just had a look at the Sound Gems site... interesting bits of info on there!
I wasn't aware that William DeVaughan's hit "Be thankful for what you got" was first out on that label
Always something new to learn eh...

I don't have a definative answer either, with regards to whether the green or blue coloured UK Motown demos came out came out in any specific order - or even if it really makes any diference.
I have lots of these, both blue ones and green ones, I think I even have both variations of "Tailgate"
My copy of "Rode by the place" demo is green with a date of release as November 25th 1977 - that release was TMG 1093
"Tailgate" was TMG 1075 if that means anything...
Hope this helps somehow?

0.13 seconds in , that is John Benson if I am not mistaken .
Malc Burton
Guilty as charged - having a word with Garry & Linda Sharpley. Also spotted Derek White, coming back from the bar with a few beers. Quite a few others on there I recognised also!
That was definately Canklow as I don't think I got to the Aquarius Sunday night do's - usually went to Capones in Rotherham when I was on the right shift for a night out.
That one of The Travellers Rest, I spotted a brief shot of the Pinches Brothers Dave and Bri.
Doesn't time fly...

Does the direction of brushing make much of a difference then?
I tend to use a nail brush with a little soap and just luke warm water to wash it off, but mainly brush backwards and forwards along the grooves.
Never really thought if the direction mattered - until you mentioned it

Can anyone explain just how the 'pitch' numbering works?
As in relation to the records original speed that is - say the original speed is 1, how does +1, +2, +3 etc relate to that?
Is there an actual relationship to the increase in speed, like in a percentage or something?
Does +2 equate to something like 1.2% and so on?
I know it can't be exactly like that as +8 would be going on to be twice the original speed, but I think you should get my drift!
Just curious...cos I'm a bit thick on this sort of thing!

I guess I better 'come clean' and own up to be one of your secret listeners!
More so since you've made the shows available to download - I work shifts so can't always listen 'live'. So the downloads go on my player and accompany me in the car to work and back as I listen to them.
There's always the odd lesser known or forgotten gem to be heard - along with other great tunes.
Keep it up - much appreciated

Y'know Pete, I semi thought I must have heard about this idea somewhere before!
It must have been from you

I think the question is more about is the yellow label copy from Canada?
Weren't the usual copies blue?
-
But seriosly this boiling water method seems logical , the turbulance caused by the boiling water would dislodge dirt in a sort of ultrasonic way now theres an idea an ultrasonic record cleaner ...
Actually that might be worth a try!
Don't opticians have an ultrasonic cleaner for glasses (Spectacles)?
Has anyone ever tried one?

I seem to think 'Drop in the bucket' was on a "From the vaults" LP in the 80's, not sure about the other one though...?
