Cheers Mark, as I said, I hadn't noticed it on this multicoloured label and all the pictures I could turn up were of the later brown one. Anyone else got this design I wonder?

Reviving this two and a half year old thread with an update: Up to now the only (few) copies I've seen have been of the later dark brown style label - as shown in the above scan. I've just come across a copy with the earlier label design, which from what I can make out changed over around July 1972. According to info I've got from 45Cat, it seems to have started around the 300th release, although this would now be the earliest one I've seen up to date. This 45 seems to be from August of that year, so would be in the middle of the changeover period when the older labels were being used up I guess? Has anyone else got or seen this record on this label before, as I haven't! ? By the way, I've also realised that the correct title is actually "Falling in love the first time" - The word 'for' isn't on either of the label designs!

Only her later re-make on Ichiban as far as I can see Derek - not anywhere near as good is it?

The issue has the same long & short versions as the demo actually. But they have slightly different titles on the demos to the issue. Demos are "Am I hot, am I cold" Issues are "Am I cold, am I hot" ....

What's the picture sleeve like? Same as the LP? Is that the UK copy you mean pjs?

Not forgetting of course, it was also raved about in Blues & Soul by Dave Godin. Can't say as I can recall it ever getting plays in the clubs at the time - or since. What's the difference with the UK and US copies then? UK London promo and a German Bellaphon with picture cover for me! Now the other side... that is a beauty isn't it!

I've read somewhere about it existing on a Canadian 45, but for the life of me can't think where I saw it .... Sorry, not much help I know!

Mine is (sort of) in label order, then in numerical order for each label. UK releases and US kept separate, then a few other boxes for any other country releases - which aren't sorted yet! Mind you, I'm forever pulling things out to play / record as mp3, then not getting around to actually doing anything with them! Spreadsheets etc. - I've toyed with the idea numerous times, then quickly decided against it due to the time it would take me to actually complete the task!!

I've always associated this with Wilson Pickett, closely followed by Aretha Franklin and then Maxine Brown, but his version ain't too shabby either!

Got my LP around 3 1/2 years back now from a seller in the USA They do still turn up now and again, you just have to put a few searches out for one.

Yes, I also went to quite a few of the Sunday nights there, that was before Wigan starting for sure. I can't think how long before though... I seem to recall going mid week at some point as well? I first went there around 1971 when it was called The Heartbeat.

From what I remember it was first released on the Kent CD 'Masterpieces of Modern Soul'. Then as a 45 on Kent for the 24th Anniversary 6Ts give away at the 100 Club around 2003, later still it 'appeared' on Noriega - which is questionable as to it's legitimacy and certainly wasn't around prior to the Kent releases. I've not listened to it all the way through for some time, but as far as I recall, it played fine - no signs that it was dubbed from other records as such.
