  1. Thanks for the link Sean! I only caught the second hour 'live' so will look forward to hearing it all the way through. Hope you didn't have too much trouble in the 'cockpit' this time
  2. Me and the missus look like going to Bletchley, near Milton Keynes next Saturday (12th) to take my daughter, who's doing a course over the weekend. So I was just wondering, rather than go all the way back up to South Yorkshire then come back on Sunday afternoon - is there anything going on in that area? I was thinking along the lines of staying somewhere overnight, so as long as it's not a long way away from there, say within a 20 miles (ish) radius - we could maybe get somewhere to stay nearby, then call back on the Sunday afternoon to pick her up again. I've had a look on the events calendar, but can't see anything obvious, so if anyone knows of anything or can let me know, I'd appreciate it. Thanks in advance!
  3. Here's a few 'different' releases From Chile: Australia:
  4. I've got the LP - somewhere, if any more info is needed, let me know and I'll see if I can find it.
  5. I've got those two, plus maybe a couple more. Can't say as I've ever seen a listing for the label so it would be nice to see one. If no one comes up with anything, I'll dig the others out for you.
  6. OK Mike, I'll dig them out and have a listen - when I get chance! Meanwhile here's a pic of the Quality 45 Plus the Issue copy - to get back on with the thread!
  7. Don't think it's on a UK 45 - maybe an LP but I don't recall one?
  8. Hmm, really Mike - can't say as I'd noticed, got both of the Quality singles as demos and of course the Contempo release which I bought only for the sublime "Try to leave me..." but that was back in the late 70's / early 80's(?) when Mr Hampsey first stuck it on a tape for me. You didn't mention that this is actually on the other side of the Contempo release of "Baby you know how to get to me", so I'll just mention it so others realise they can pick it up without the need for a Quality issue copy - although that's still a great double sider!
  9. Yes it was that track, I was listening to the show. Agreed as Dave said, copies are around and not particularly expensive - I picked up a Burdette promo a few years or so back. Don't know what the flip side's like though as it's a same both sides copy! Here's a scan of the issue copy: Here's a few copies for sale: https://www.gemm.com/ddc/search.pl?&disp_ad_format_mode=0&artist=SPRINGFIELD+RIFLE&price_above=%2E001&&title=THAT'S+ALL+I+REALLY+NEED&price_above=%2E001&&mi=8761299|111267731|111298487|1436399426
  10. I bought this one around the mid 70's, a UK copy. There was a bit of a 'buzz' on it at the time, but I don't ever recall it getting plays out anywhere. Which doesn't mean it didn't get played, I just never heard it. It was coupled with different titles in the UK and the USA UK issue was released on the flip to the lovely ballad "I was checking out..." US copy was released with "Somebody's been enjoying my home" Both flip sides being typical 'slipping around' songs "Bad mouthing" was and still is a nice dancer, it would be nice to hear it played out sometime
  11. I wonder who got my copy that I sold around 1978 - for a couple of pounds? I must have carried it around in a sales box for 6 months before it went... That was an issue copy also! Ah well
  12. Off the top of my head: Leroy Hutson - The man - Buddah / Curtom Voices of East Harlem - Just Sunshine - both of their albums on this label Chuck Jackson - Teardrops keep fallin'... - VIP Sandra Wright - Wounded Woman - Demon Luther Ingram - Do you love somebody - KoKo Darrell Banks - Is here - Volt Darrell Banks - Here to stay - Atco Al Johnson - Peaceful - Marina Carla Thomas - Memphis Queen - Stax Plus loads more...Womack, Aretha, Johnny Taylor, David Ruffin, Marvin, Jerry Butler....
  13. Due to working I've not had chance to listen to the show live. But have listened to all the downloads - a nice selection, keep it up Johnny Also, I do happen to like a bit of Margie!
  14. Here you go, one of each: Actually my copy is a yellow issue, but is stamped DJ copy not for sale, or something similar.
  15. For what it's worth, my copy is on Loma and also in mono - not by choice though... it just was!
  16. Isn't the New Moon stock copy the same on side 2? Part 2 = (same as) Instrumental ???
  17. To me it's quite clear that the Portuguese release on Pye was released after the UK Right On release - it says on the label "Licenced by Pye Records Limited England" But strictly speaking it's not a re-issue, just a release in a different country - albeit due to the belated UK release done via Dave Godin. It's not as if there was any big demand for it over here at the time is it? I actually had a US DJ copy before the Right On 45 came out, then bought one of those and later sold the US copy for just a few pounds! The Portuguese Pye release was most likely done due to a licencing deal with UK Pye at that time. By the way, I picked up one of those Portuguese copies from Ian Clark during the late (90's ish) for under a fiver, so there was no big demand for it then either!
  18. I wonder if Lanny Lambert was related to Dennis Lambert - half of the Lambert and Potter team who wrote lots of things for the Four Tops (amongst others) during the 70's?
  19. Thanks for the Contempo scan Paul It saved me from digging mine out, as I was just going to look for it! Anyway, here's a few more variations (and maybe a better picture of one) etc.
  20. Ressurrecting this old thread as I've just been playing the version off the Kent CD "Music City Soul" and it's one with strings in the foreground. My copy, is the one without the 'X', but for some reason I didn't get around to playing it when I checked the matrix no. I just assumed it's the one with the piano in the foreground. But when re-visiting this thread I spotted the possibility of a third version - did anyone ever get to the bottom of this? The version of Val's doesn't really sound any different (to me) so I just wondered if there is any numbering differences and just what the difference is on that version?
  21. Hi Dave, I've got a yellow promo LP also! And then there were three...
  22. That reminds me Roger, I've at least two Monarch pressed 45s in which the "X" is on the A side, I can't recall off hand what they are (but I think I've made a note of them). Maybe it's just a case of another one of those 'anomalies' made at the pressing plant - just a simple mistake by someone there?
  23. Here's a couple of scans I have to hand: Love his stuff!
  24. Yes it's known Mark - I have a copy and have seen it around on the net now and again. Even heard it spun on a radio show a few years back, but I don't think it's widely known really. Also yes, it's Ronnie Dyson.
