  1. Just realised I've got a scan of this 45. Not my copy, although I do have one, but it's got some sort of reviewer notes on the sleeve that look interesting and may just make sense to someone!
  2. I certainly looks that way Matt, I can't see it in any singles listing - unless there's an obscure South American release or similar?
  3. Still can't drop on this myself Andy - good luck
  4. Just wondering, is the poor grade vinyl etc comments referring to all the Phillippines Motown 45s in general, or just these mentioned? I know Smokey Robinson & The Miracles "Flying high together" was also released there (So can't be included here) - was that a 'bad' one also?
  5. You may not be aware that this actually got a 45 release in the UK (At least) as the flip to "Do what you gotta do" Nice thread guys!
  6. Not really my thing Pete, although I can see what you mean about it being 'old style' There's at least one copy on sale for around the price you paid though.. Just realised I have something on Phil LA of Soul by a group of this name, not sure if it's the same group though.
  7. I've got it on the red Columbia label - not sure which is the 'harder' copy though? I think it's styrene also.
  8. Don't forget "If you really need a friend, call on me" by him, another nice tune! On 77 I think?
  9. Never heard it played out myself, it's always been a tape / CD swappers record to me. I got mine going on for 20 odd years back - must dig it out again though! Auctions eh, you never know what the outcome will be, it's been said lots of times before, you just need a couple of people who stick way over the top bids on something to make sure they get something and up it goes! Maybe that's what happened here? Let's see what the other one on there goes for, I know there's at least 1 more currently for sale....
  10. Never heard it Pete, so can't really comment...
  11. Interesting comments, thanks for the link to the earlier thread Sebastian, I now vaguely remember seeing it before. Never was keen of the 'syndrum' mix when it was first played! Don't think I'll be chasing the copy currently 'on sale' though!
  12. Judging from the numbering, it would appear that the 1932 copy was released later. Is the timing on the label shorter also? It's 4mins 50 on the 1879 release. Any chance of a scan of it Martin?
  13. As far as I'm aware it's only on the LP... but you never know fo you! Lovely track though.
  14. Off the top of my head, I see the Margo Michaels song - Take my everything was released on her LP on Real World records. Were any other tracks actually released?
  15. It's also featured on the UK Philips LP "16 Star tracks" (#6308066) Also on the earlier Philips LP "Doin' things" (#SLB 7865) Sorry - can't help with a 45 of it though, but I do believe it was a Dutch release only as you say.
  16. Yes, a great interesting article Rob, it certainly makes more pieces of the puzzle we call Soul music fit together. So many more connections I wasn't aware of!
  17. Just thought I'd add one of their RCA tunes to this - "Man overboard", there was a recent thread on here about this. Here's a few pics (not mine) of a Portuguese EP it features on: There's also an LP which I do have, plus a US Mandala 45 of this (which I don't have). Not forgetting of course the 'rare groove' classic "Shake it up"
  18. Kev, I stand corrected then, I always assumed the white ones were same both sides! Ah well, we can't all know it all can we.. Thanks,
  19. I've got a 'stock copy' promo of The Classic Example 45, but it's not stamped 'DJ Sample' as the Skull Snaps is, but printed on the label like regular stock promos tend to be - is that what you mean Keith? It's got both songs on also, unlike the WLP which is Mono / Stereo of the A side
  20. Sean's right about the Bob Cuban, it's the same as the Darrell Banks I put up earlier, if you look closely at the 12 O clock position it says just after the His Masters Voice bit (NZ)
  21. Cheers for that - I almost thought it looked like it could have been a stock copy - looks nice all the same!
  22. A question someone just may know the answer to. Some time back I spotted this on a certain Portland, Oregon dealers site: I meant to ask them if it had a flip side as I've never ever seen one listed, but then forgot all about it until recently, of course the record has gone, so someone bought it. Normally you see mono / stereo promos of the A side only, like this one: So does anyone know if it had a flip side and if so what is it? Cheers!
  23. Just downloading it now, never able to listen to it 'live' due to the time it goes out as it clashes with working shifts! Thanks for the continued posting of the links, much appreciated.
