Gloria Barnes Lp
I'm sure you want comments on the tracks rather than a track list. But as I don't have it, I'll start things off with this taken from Popsike: From 1971, out of New Jersey, comes Gloria Barnes with her LP Uptown on Maple M6006. Ultra rare ORIGINAL PRESS of this extremely rare soul/funk LP! Contains the song I'll Call You Back Later, parts of which have been sampled on various records. Eight songs on this LP, including Old Before My Time, I'll Call You Back Later, I Found Myself, Gotta Get Away, You Don't Mean It, Home, She Wants A Stand-In, and I'll Go All The Way. This ultra rare LP features Lee Moses and The Deciples on several of the songs as back-up. The Ohio Players may have been involved in several other songs.

Contempo-Raries Series - Solid And 4-Prong Centres
Here's a couple of mine, Deon Jackson - "I can't go on" and Robert Parker - I caught you in a lie" Both being the solid centre 'variety' - I'll have to go digging and see if I have any others, then maybe we can compare / see if there's any of the dinked ones of the same record?

Patti Jo - (Patti Jo + Barry Smith ?) - Merged Topic
Right, I've finally got around to scanning the Dutch 45, as I said earlier, it did have a solid middle at one point, but I didn't realise that until I bought it. But it'll have to do for the time being, until I finally drop on a cheap US copy.

Willie Tee - First Taste Of Hurt
"Please don't go" was a regular spin at the Clifton Hall in Rotherham which would make it late 1980 onwards.

Jeff Perry Sound-A-Likes?
I seem to think there's 2 LPs by Jackie Wilson where Jeff is involved, "Beautiful Day" & another one which I can't remember. I must dig them out and see what else is on them as I think there's one or two more gems on them worth a mention.

Jeff Perry Sound-A-Likes?
How about Jeff's other 45 on Arista "Unforgettable person"?

Jesse Boone - I Got To Love You Baby / I Got The Ring - Soul Po-Tion
I've got the Soul-Po-Tion 119 release which has "You can depend on that" on the flip. Just compared the '226' one on Steve's site - now sold by the way, it sounds the same to my ears. Errr - 'Rings...' doesn't do a lot for me I'm afraid!

So... is "Praise him" a different song? Just curious as you said it isn't on the album.

70S Pirate Land Based Soul Stations
I used to listen to a few of those South Yorkshire stations - early 90's I think? I forget the names now, but seem to recall they were a bit hit and miss as in you never quite knew when they would be transmitting. Nemesis from Clowne - wasn't that Neil Page? I seem to remember hearing he was involved, but don't think I ever heard it. I remember hearing a lot of the rare groove things played on one station, but I was thinking it was a Sheffield based one?

The 'A' side is "I come to praise him" - is that the one you meant? That side is on a US 45 by the way.

Awesome - New - Soul Track Discovery - 1St Feb 2014
Well after hearing it - the 'jingle remix' that is, I also thought it was more early 70's. The production and instrumentation certainly lean that way to my ears at least! But there's still nothing wrong with it...

Awesome - New - Soul Track Discovery - 1St Feb 2014
Shades of Na Allen "Thanks for nothing" in the intro... but that's no bad thing I'll be tuned into Steve's show tomorrow for the full but no doubt 'jingled' version! Chalky - Steve usually does a download for his shows, at some point - you just need to keep on at him :-)

Obscure - unusual Foreign Releases
As this has been mentioned in another discussion, I thought i better add it here also, The Stovall Sisters "Yes to the lord" on an Argentinian single:

Stovall Sisters Lp Info Please
Strictly speaking though, it is a single, but not a 45 as it plays at 33

Here it is, pity about the marks on the label, but otherwise it looks and plays perfect!

Marvin Smith- Hold On
I never realised Tommy Hunt did it Robb, although I am aware of his Atlantic side "I don't want to lose you" which is the other side of "Hold on" - Until now I hadn't connected them as Van McCoy songs. 45 Cat has this down as a 1965 release, with Marvin Smith as a 1967 release.
-
Jimmy Burns - I Really Love You
I'd have said either Sam or maybe John Manship at Cleethorpes, around 77 / 78 ish? But off hand I can't be certain.
-
Marvin Smith- Hold On
This is the only one I know of, who else did it?

Stovall Sisters Lp Info Please
No Steve, I didn't miss it at all - I thought I'd come across it a few years back, but couldn't find any proof when I looked. But I finally happened across one on eBay last summer for less than ten dollars. I actually played it from the single last October during my Cotton Club set in Bilbao but surprisingly didn't get one 'bite' - no doubt they were all too drunk at the time! I'll post up mine later - A white promo by the way!

Moses Smith
What about that Dionn single "Girl across the street" / "Try my love"? Was that a legit release, or some sort of bootleg? There's quite a few copies around, I thought they were from JamGuy records, but I'm not certain now.

Have you had a look on Discogs for this? I think it shows the different variations, re-issues etc. It might just help you. Great track - a nice take on the Martha & Vandellas song!

The Theo-Coff Invasion Lucky Day
Not being a big instrumental fan, I remember getting a tape from John Manship in the late 70's with this on. Can't say as I recall hearing it played at that time though, maybe it was just 'bubbling under' as they say?

Demo To Issue Timeline?
Are you thinking of that Janus 45 by the Inclinations? I think that states that it's for release in Baltimore only.

Patti Jo - (Patti Jo + Barry Smith ?) - Merged Topic
Cheers Dave, that looks about right. I picked one up last year but was a bit suspicious about it as it has looked as if it used to have a push out centre. I haven't come across any like that so wasn't sure about it. The label does look the same as the Independents 45 on 45cat - I forgot they have other countries releases nowadays. I might get the label scanned some time as I can't say as I've come across one yet.

Patti Jo - (Patti Jo + Barry Smith ?) - Merged Topic
Just another addition to this, I believe that Patti's "Make me believe in you" got a release in Holland. Can anyone confirm if it was a release from when the record first came out, or was it a much later release - or even a 'dodgy' release?
