Royton Soul Suit

Hi Soul Brothers & Sisters, I am aged mid 60's and love my Northern Soul ever sinse I went to Royton Youth Club at 15 where I got my 1st taste of this fantastic music and after buying Blues & Soul magazine I sent off for my membership for Wigan Casino I remember it well, so at 16 and still at school it arrived and I couldn't wait ( this is a long story ) I asked one of the older lads how to get there from Royton and they told me to get the 400 bus to Bolton then the 13 bus to Wigan so it being Saturday night my mum asked me to go to the shop for her fag's I did and on impulse decided I was going to Wigan so kept her change and used it for my big night out which was a big adventure on my own, anyway it all went tit's up I got the 400 the wrong way yes the wrong way ended up in Stockport when i got of the bus at the terminal I asked where I could catch the number 13 bus to Wigan and was told there was no bus to Wigan but if I was lucky I could get a train but didn't know where the train station was but someone directed me and I frantically ran to the station and managed to find the right platform and Jumped on the train and with a huge sigh of releaf as I could see all the soulies with there over night bags, after arriving in Wigan followed everyone to the club but my next problem was hopefully getting in but luckilly while walking up the line of people I recognised Mick Race so jumped into the queue with him and once them doors opened my feet didn't touch the floor it was a huge surge to get in and within minutes I was in phew!! later Mick asked me to go and sell some records he had in his box in Mr M's which I did and selling a few he gave me some money for selling them which incidentally was enough to give my mum her change when I got home ( she did ask where I was alnight so told her I was baby sitting and "where is my change" she said so I gave it to her... no wiser lol ) what a wonderful experience. Told you it was a long story
