I was a bandleader in the Catskill Mountain resorts in NY state from 1966-1973. During those years, Barry Smith was one of the most dynamic singing acts around. Not doing soul, of course, but rather great American song book standards and Broadway show tunes. From a musician's point of view, his charts (arrangements) were outstanding and included: The Best Things in Life are Free (his opener a la Sam Cooke), Old Man Time, Quando Caliente el Sol, My Way, etc. I have a very primitive recording of his act at the Green Acres Hotel from 1972 which was made by my drummer on a portable cassette deck. I would like to share it with him and the group if possible. Barry might remember me as Bruce Mann. Does anyone know if he is still alive and if so how I could contact him?
