  2. Hi there, Hoping someone can help me? Looking for info on a track : Sephire- Thank You, need info as to cost, format etc? Many Thanks, John Mc.
  3. Remember the All-Nighters very well, used to travel over from Corby with Roy Dandy, Tony Blackwood, Paul Bromley, Francis Mulrainey & the bloke off the Telly Dave Coyle ( Telly name is Brendan Coyle & he is in "Lark rise to Candleford" among many other shows) Some of the lads are still out & about on the scene today. Remember bringing a Bus Load over on either Boxing day or New Years day to an all-dayer one year only for the do to be called off as it had snowed quite heavily?? ( can't recall the year though, possibly 79'? ) Was never too fussed as to who the Dj's were as it was the sounds that mattered the most back then. Remember getting in via the window of the Ladies toilets a few times when local boy " Shaft " let us in. His real name was Alan....................something & i believe that he went on to become either a British or World Champion Line Dancer!!!! Paul Bromley will remember Alan's surname, so i'll ask him when i see him next. Lots of fond memories from the Fleet of bygone day's of Youth etc & strange that a lot of us were there at the time & still attend now & never even new of each other. cheers, John Mc.

  9. It's a corking tune, its on the album " Its rough out here" - Buddah Records 1975. Also on the album is " I can't fight your love ", another good track. regards, John Mc.
  10. You mentioned that the scene seems to be split................no wonder, as those of us who enjoy the "Modern /X-over" side of the tracks aswell, get very little of it , as most do's seem to cater for the oldies crowd, so that's why some of us have had to start visiting other venues ( or even start them ) in order to get our fix. As Russ said in an earlier post..............why cant it ALL be played in the same set in the same room?? Fed up attending so called A.T.B. venues that may throw us the odd morsel or two if we are really lucky, if it was the other way round, the oldies crew would be up in arms!! As always, "1 man's meat is another man's poison", but please dont be too hasty to disregard the Modern / X-over genre, as there are some fabulous tunes out there just waiting to get played!! I don't care if you have a pair of baggies & a beer towel or Glow stick's & Jelly shoes as that would be your own choice...................just enjoy the music. regards, John Mc.

  15. I have got to know Kev very well over the past few years & we would have been travelling with him to the Soul For Heroes do if my wife had felt better. We have different opinions on numerous things Soulful, but hey...........maybe that's why we gel? After reading the points made here, all i can say is Kev IS guilty of the following: 1. A less than well-thought out piece put into Manifesto in the first place e.g. " i won't pay the DJ'S" etc 2. A hasty reply to Sam's points in the next issue of Manifesto 3. A "different" understanding as to what constitutes Modern Soul these days. 4. A tendancy to let "Little" things get to him e.g "A Bulldog chewing a wasp" scenario. Kev has over the past 4 years or so has established a very well attended Soul night, that caters in the main for those who prefer the "Oldies" genre. However, he has also tried to get away from the "same old same old" tunes that get played to death every week around the country. His own collection has changed dramatically over this time & he has been known to spin one or two tunes that have been labelled as Modern Soul I go to the Cream Cracker, as it's local for me, & i get to see many friends there. Musically, it has got a lot better, but still falls short in the " X-over /Modern" dept for me personally, but always a good night. An easy way to fix this is to have an "Across the board" policy where it does what it says on the tin.......something for everyone!! Kev................chill out brother...............is it an ex-soldier thing? . Remember the old saying........"I may not agree with your opinion...........but i will fight for the right for you to have one" !! cheers, John Mc.
