  1. I've been thinking of this too since I saw a video of myself dancing at a soul do looking totally depressed and almost angry on the floor. After seeing that video I've now tried to smile a bit more while dancing , but I've soon given up. I guess that when you're concentrated on not bumping into those around you at the same time as you're (hopefully) listening to music that is so good that it almost hurts , smiling becomes more difficult. Plus, you use more muscles when you're smiling than if you're just poker-faced and dancing is hard work as it is. Shame that my default state is looking angry...
  2. Yep, different venue for the anniversary, and what a venue! (Just don't forget to bring a lot of talcum powder...) Top night that was, had a great time, well worth the 7-hour trip. Plus they handed out free t-shirts!
  3. Thanks Val! Oh, come on, someone's got to have this for sale...
  4. Anyone got a copy of Perfections - Girl you better hurry/Get on down on Tri-City for sale? Please pm or e-mail me at helena_stromdahl@hotmail.com Cheers Helena
  5. Been in contact with Lotusland already. Their price is in accordance with what the one on ebay went for. Guess this is no longer a £20 tops record...
  6. Anyone got a copy of INWYS for sale? Yellow, orange...Pm me, please! Sorry if this ended up in the wrong section...
  7. That would be Clarence Townsend on the Clara label from Mississippi. A rare and expensive piece of vinyl unfortunately. Got it in my home, not my record though. Really good tune.
  8. "Maybe we are just more into technical stuff in Sweden?" Yes, thought about that myself after I first posted. I'd say almost everybody's got easy access to internet in Sweden. Well, off to meet with Soulof, Mats and the Malmoe crowd. And where to? A club that's got hundreds of punters (young "trendy" people) and which used to spin soul records only, but has now for unclear reasons decided to play more across the board, including 80's pop music from what I've heard. Would just like to clarify that the hundreds of hip people are not part of the soul scene at all, they just go out to have a drink and dance to whatever comes out of the speakers. Don't think they reflect that much over what music is being played. I cannot see any of them rushing to the computer next morning searching the internet for "northern soul". But these clubs give us soulies a chance to hear soul on a night out and even dance a little on the packed floor, we aren't exactly spoiled here. Great night yesterday, Sebastian and Jonte.
  9. Yeah, go Sweden! Seriously, if Sweden is the third country on this list, I'm really concerned about the countries further down the list. However, our scene (if you could actually call it that ) is not as bad as some portray it...
