  2. Shaun, I have never posted comments about your show before but my other half has been pestering me all afternoon to post a comment about todays show , it was so good we have listened to it twice. We have listened to and recorded your show now for the last 18 months and have always enjoyed the quality both from yourself and your excellent guests. Todays show with Ivor Jones was exceptionally good with lots of stuff we have never heard before plus a few of our faves. Just one downside, due to dancing around the living room to Ace Spectrum and Aristocrats she burnt the Yorkshire Puddings, never mind small price to pay. Keep up the good work , looking forward to Steve Plumbs contribution , always does the business whenever we have seen him (superb at Yarmouth). A big thank you as well to Zane for the downloads each week , brilliant !!!!!!!! cheers mate. Paul & Sue , Doncaster
  3. Denbo , Not sure how to copy from Sky+ direct to CD or MP3 format , think I would need a CD Recorder for that which I haven't got, can copy on to cassette tapes or Video if any good to you , let me know. If anybody else has any ideas how to copy from Sky+ to CD or direct to PC as an MP3, would be grateful for comments. What software or hardware would I require ? Mods may move this to another Forum but it is connected to Mark's show as you will see. Paul
  4. Mark , Been away this weekend to Newquay Weekender so recorded Sundays show and just finished listening to it, great show as always and as already stated by many you will certainly be missed , lost count of the number of tracks we heared for the 1st time from your show and some absolute quality tunes played throughout with some of the best jocks in the country as your guests. There is no other show on Sky or available on line that comes close to such a varied selection of Soul ,as you have covered all genres at some time or other and the information you give on each record played is 2nd to none. Thanks for 7 years of dedication to this wonderful scene of ours to which your contribution can not be equalled IMHO , thanks for the requests you have played for us both on your show and at various venues and hope to see you at a few venues in the coming months. Thanks again Mate The End of an Era See You Soon Paul & Sue
  5. Now heres a suggestion, assuming Mark wants to continue and based on what he has said about block funding for 12 months. I have no idea how many listeners Mark has but I would think it must be upwards of 500 , probably many more ( certainly should be ). Anyway supposing it was 500 and every one of those 500 were to contribute a measly £5 pounds per year which is equivalent of one night entrance fee to most venues up and down the country each week and less than many Sky TV subscriptions monthly to watch films or football which IMO are far less entertaining than the Soul Shack, this would I believe be more than enough to fund the Soul Shack for at least another year and then repeat the process all over again in a years time. If the number of listeners is less than this or some don't want to contribute then increase it to £10 per year which is equivalent to 20 pence per week. Compare this to Setanta Sport charging £9.99 per month for Premiership Football. Obviously this would have to be done in an organised manner but I'm sure all the soul lovers in this country and abroad would not begrudge paying such a small amount to keep this quality Radio show afloat for a little longer. I totally agree with Jo that Solar Radio should pay Mark for presenting this show not the other way round but if that's the way it works then surely we can get our heads together and save our Soul Shack. Paul & Sue , Doncaster.
  6. Mark , It's an understatement to tell you how gutted we feel about this, for us, but more for you as I know how passionate you feel about this show and it must have been one hell of a decision to call it a day. Having said that we totally understand why you have come to this decision and totally respect this. I have only been back on the scene about 5 years but without your show I would have probably only stayed about 6 months. After returning to the scene and going to lots of venues locally I was beginning to tire of the same old few hundred records hammered to death everywhere, when a work colleague of mine Roger (45 Cellar) told me about your show and I started to listen every week and eventually taped every show on cassette, video and more recently Sky+, most of which I still have. I was absolutely amazed at the music you played as not much of it was played out anywhere and not being collectors most of it was new to us, the information about each record you gave was second to none and has learnt me a lot about artists and the scene in general. This then made me realise that this scene of ours was worth the effort and we started to attend other venues where we could hear something different and we are enjoying it today more than ever. With brilliant guests and spotlighting new CD's plus of course your own contribution you have brought to us a fantastic ATB selection of Soul week after week and we will really miss your show each Sunday. If you do decide to change your mind you will always have our support and if you don't we wish you and your family the best of luck whatever you do. Hope to see you soon at some venue or other. Paul & Sue
  7. Anyone got a decent MP3 of this you could pm me . I heard it at last Wilton , I think Roger Banks played it , great tune , can't get Clip Player to work at the moment to listen to it again. Thanks Paul
  8. Can anyone supply an MP3 of this amazing JB track , it's the faster version from the 'Hell' album not the slow one. I have downloaded it from various sites but it is always the slow one i get. Heard it last year for the 1st time on Shaun Robbins Solar Radio show and once or twice since at various venues including Frobisher when Brian Goucher played it for us and somebody played it at Soul Essence. Anyone who doesn't know it , give it a try , not the usual JB style. I know there's a Soundfile on here but would be grateful for MP3. Cheers Paul & Sue
  9. Happy New Year to all Soul-Sourcers everywhere . To all Promoters, collectors and DJ's of all Soul Music, a big thanks for 2006 and keep up the good work in 2007, and what a way to start the year with The Wilton on Friday, what a line up,we can't wait. See You All Soon Paul & Sue
  10. just thought of a few more before this thread drys up especially with all the tears shed so far. Lonely man am I , ever since you said goodbye , girl I know that I should have woke up coz it seems now that we've broke up, your farewell kiss is haunting me ,my 2 lips cry out constantly, let your heart let your heart be your guide, forget about your foolish pride etc, etc, etc Classic Temps - (Loneliness Made Me Realise) It's You That I Need Darrell Banks - I'm The One Who Loves You and who could forget the awesome Volumes - Same Old Feeling with the words I sit in the corner and tears fill my eyes and also I cry to myself when nobodys there , classic tune, great lyrics. one more to finish J R Bailey - Love Won't Wear Off As The Years Wear On - SUPERB Paul & Sue
  11. May have missed them earlier but what about:- Eddie Whitehead - Just Your Fool Tempests - I Don't Want To Lose Her Johnny Gilliam - Roomful of Tears James Brown - I Lost Someone Chuck Jackson - What's With This Loneliness All top tunes not played enough IMO. Paul & Sue
  12. Another top guest, superb 2 hours entertainment . All 3 guys from the Orwell have played a great mix of underplayed 60's and quality 70's on your show, can't wait for Steve Connors contribution. Looking forward to the mini nighter on 25th August, hope to bring a few others with us this time. See You then Paul & Sue, Doncaster.
  13. Mark, Really sad news, count us in for the £20, Sunday nights will not be the same without your show, I may as well cancel my Sky subscription coz theres not much worth watching on it. What I like about your show is not only do you play great underplayed soul music but you also do not talk over the music and are very informative about each record. Hope you have a re think on this and if you decide to go this route let us know where to send the money. Good Luck Paul & Sue Doncaster.
  14. Very sad to hear the news. We met Nige for the first and sadly the last time at Torquay weekender May 2005, we had several chats with him and Nige B over the weekend and they both came across as really nice guys,we are not collectors,DJ's or promoters just punters who enjoy good quality soul music and even though they were aware of that they still had time to talk to us as well. We particularly remember a record by Frank Howard called Judy played by Nige S which we have never heard played out anywhere else since although have recently managed to get it on a CD, a great song which will now always remind us of a really nice man who will be sadly missed on the scene just as much as Derek Allen has been. Sincere condolences to Nige B and to all Nige S family and friends, our thoughts are with you. Paul & Sue, Doncaster.
  15. Mark , Listened to your show for last 3 or 4 years, got most of them on video or audio tape and more recently Sky+. Excellent show, far superior to anything else broadcast on line or TV ( won't mention any names or might get myself in to bother) Music and guests are always quality and over the years we have heard lots of top sounds which we rarely heared at main venues although I feel that is slowly changing. Spoke to you recently at The Orwell where you played 2 or 3 requests for us (Lee Williams,Andrea Henry and Two People). Deserved a bigger audience but nevertheless great spot from you and Neil. Thanks for that and keep up the good work Hope to see you out somewhere again soon. Paul & Sue, Doncaster. PS. Next time don't forget Buck Rogers, only ever heard it on your show.
