  1. ....that'll cost the producers! Be cheaper, and far, far, far better to use an original & authentic soundtrack. Silly buggers!
  2. Only ever seen blue issues of these, white demos must be bloody hard to get Paul.
  3. Well, you know, tried to create a 60's soul sound (I do stress 'tried' ). ...."features a pounding soundtrack of Northern Soul classics covered by artists LIKE ....." The way I read it is it's just giving an example of what the music is like (obviously that's open to debate!) and not featuring these artists.
  4. Hey Tomangoes! I've put it on a CD myself 'Album tracks Only'....if you want a free copy PM me.
  5. If you read it, I think it actually means that these artists 'HAVE' copied the Northern Soul sounds. I know it say's they've done covers, but that's newspapers for you! Probably just giving an example to the 'great unwashed'. The people responsible seem to have a passion for the music and I'm pretty sure they'll be using proper Northern sounds. It sounds like it could be a good film (imo).
  6. As it's a 'first' UK release it's definitely worth having, but gotta be no more that £10/15 I'd have said???? Obviously a Peachtree USA original gonna be over £100.
  7. Had this discussion before and never really came up with an answer. Remember some soulies wearing one black glove on their right hand!
  8. I Love the 'USA' label and am collecting their output. The design is great and even better with the sleeves (not easy to get!). Product is a mixture of great Northern Soul & Garage group stuff.
  9. Like Stardom say's it gained some popularity but think it was the flip 'Same Things That Make You Laugh' that was starting to grab attention, remember several soul buddies asking me if I had it and commenting on the flip, that's why I bought it. If it is a boot, then I paid £60 to some conning b'stard!!
  10. Those numbers are scratched in on my 'supposed' boot on the 'Sock Some...' side.
  11. Didn't realise the label had so many releases! TLP 1002 The Marvettes sounds the most interesting of the lot, love to see that one.
  12. Definitely not Phil Terrell, I have that on 45. Faster and with breaks I remember, may not be a Carnival track but it was definitely unreleased.
  13. At last I can ask my Carnival question! Pretty sure a mate (who I'm no longer in contact with) did me a tape of 'Carnival' recordings several years ago...some unissued and I'm sure there was one called 'Erase And Replace' (male vocal) from the vaults.....Can't find the tape but I really loved this tune, was It a Carnival unissued track?
  14. Just been on ebay and found this.... This is mine.... Sorry about the High Note label pic not very big but that's the way it uploaded from ebay, trust me, it's the same L.P! Also, label on the Tabernacle say's 'B&C' which was Trojan stuff weren't it?
  15. Oh, well I have an album (UK) by Otis Wright (Gospel/sacred bit of Soul type) with the Trojan 'High Note' logo on the cover/back cover BSLP 5003 and the Neasden Lane address.....label is Tabernacle!!
  16. Up the Spurs! Love your avatar...is that you? You're a young un'!!! Same situation as yourself, took me ages to get a copy and when I finally got one it wasn't in fantastic condition but good enough.
  17. Is this another version of Marva Whitney on King?
  18. Not the good one from the 70's, that has the proper flip (instrumental called Mr.Hip) and the same yellow label. It has fooled a lot of folk in its time. The one you're on about is more recent and has an orange label.
  19. Don't think you'd get much for those buddy. The Penguins is probably worth more than the others, I'm not a doo-wop expert but Goldmine guide say's $150 on glossy red label 'Dootone' (not Doolite), $40 on blue label, $50 on maroon label and $30 on black label. Fantastic Johnny C & Delfonics are ten a penny....even over here! John
  20. There's a version of the already discussed 'Who you Gonna Run To' (Shades) on the album! It's a Trojan serial number with a Amalgamated label, not unusual though, have several Trojan L.P serial numbers with their offshoot's as labels....Clandisc, Tabernacle, Harry J etc. Best Amalgated L.p is 'Jackpot Of Hits' ...I'm sure you have that Pete, oh and 'Greetings From The Pioneers' is a cracking album too! That's the only 3 albums on that label aint it?
  21. Is this the same group who have the Amalgamated L.P 'Reggae Fever'?....heard there was a dispute as to whether they were actually the Untouchables of 'Tighten Up' fame. Then heard the Untouchables were the Kingstonians....and it goes on and on.... Great L.P by the way!
  22. It's great! can see it doing the business with the funky soul/boogaloo boys.
  23. Is the Cavaliers a Kent Anniversary 45? I know it wasn't issued otherwise.
