RCA took over the reins from EMI around 1979/80 when Frank Wilson was doing the rounds, I suspose they re-released it to satisfy needs, not really sure. I bought mine in 1980 at an allnighter, it has 'marketed and distributed by RCA LTD' around the edge of the label, I remember the seller had a few of them. It came in an orange (60's retro) Tamla Motown sleeve. My copy has a solid middle but as I said in my previous post, sunken rim around the middle. The first EMI UK copies never had that, and I think all were perforated pop out middles. I'm sure someone on here can confirm? 2004 saw it released on UK Tamla Motown again, this time with the unissued (well, officially anyway!) Chris Clark version. Distributed by 'Universal'....interestingly (or not to some people), the Frank Wilson side is another slightly different take to the 1979 issued 45.

It's strange because there was that 45 (well, without the sunken rim around the perforated middle section which is how you tell it's an RCA copy) on ebay a few days back for a starting price of £40 (mint-ish) and no one touched it????? It was listed under RnB instead of Northern, wonder if that makes a difference? With 3 days still to go on the Frenchies it's gonna go for a bit. Wish I'd bought the £40 and stuck it on ebay with some speel (1965 etc)

Nice record, it's a soul/r&b tune. Similar to 'I Don't Want To Cry' by Chuck Jackson (and others). Getting played at the Mod venues I hear. By the way Dukester, even if I had a spare I wouldn't sell it to you cos' of your disrepectful comments about my team!! (only joking mate)

By the way Mischief, off subject a bit, are they still saying that Bromley is is Kent? A mate of mine reckons its South London now!!! Or do I need an early night???!!!

Think he means if the original is say, £800, then obviously £300 is nearer to a £20 boot!!!

I like it, but then I'm a sucker for those blue-eyed group sounds! The intro is great and it would have definitely been better if they used the same piece halfway through.

Original of Enchantments is on Faro, the Joker 45 came with a couple of other tracks and is a boot. Mind, think it's got Peanut Duck on the flip so worth having as that was never released any other way. John

Flip (of the UK Trojan one) is a nice version of Fontella Bass' Leave It In The hands Of Love.

mmm, that's interesting Pete, I have a copy of Chase 6000 'MIKE & THE JOKERS - There's Got To Be A Girl' uptempo Northern (almost definitely blue-eyed).....got it from the States a few years back, it's in Manship's guide for £75.....obviously the same group as your one but Mike has dropped his surname... have to say, your one isn't listed at all...

Sure I read somewhere that 'Sweet Sherry' from the Volt/Stax l.p is the first take and differs slightly from the UK Contempo 45. Anyone confirm this? Also, don't forget J.J's 'To An Early Grave' on contempo, nice mid-tempo.

Bob Marshall & the Crystals 'You Got Me Crying'...the best release by them and it's a B side!!! I've been after a copy for a while now, seen the other 2 on L-Rev a few times but this one's eluding me! good luck.
