Mel Britt Re-Issue On Ebay
ME! Obviously, original is best....but i've stacked a few 'original bootlegs' as you put it, together in a box for keep sake. The good ones, like Mel Britt, Alexander Patton, Lenny Curtis, Eddie Parker, Gwen Owens, Salvadors...etc. I'm not talking about the latest cheap looking boots but those from the 70's that really do look the business. The Lenny Curtis for example is a great quality styrene bootleg and looks the business! A hard one to find, that much I do know. There are a few who collect these believe me, and some are very hard to get.

Marv Johnson - Ua Sound Quality
If only they'd use the piano intro again, half way through the tune....would have been awesome! Great record anyway, the piano at the start is so f***ing good though, it deserved another outing! Would have been 3x the price!

Wilson Pickett,oh Baby Don't You Weep
So, we've come to the agreement that this is the ONLY Wand L.P. And it has a 'similar' cover to the UK Marble Arch one.

Wilson Pickett,oh Baby Don't You Weep
You can check dates, unfortunately I won't be able to tell you when the Wand l.p I posted up was released as I only have the UK one on Marble Arch. I got the scan of the Wand one because I was watching it on ebay, I never won it so I got a UK copy instead. Perhaps the Wand one I posted up is a re-press?

Wilson Pickett,oh Baby Don't You Weep
Aah,so there's 2 Wand L.p's then. Wonder which one came first?

Wilson Pickett,oh Baby Don't You Weep
Is this your Wand L.P? If so, ok, not 100% exactly the same. UK Marble Arch has the same cover pic though (albeit different text).

Help Please - Sam & Dave / Prince Buster
100% with that one quinvy. Ken, a lot of original Blue Beat 45's (especially this one as it sold bucket loads) come in different shades of blue, some are so dark they look black and I've got some that are almost sky blue. Oh, and thanks Pikeys dog...Leslie Kong, that's the guy!

Wanted: Nita Rossi - Every Little Day Now; Gene Chandler - Mr. Big Shot
Blue label should be ok. Either star design or plain, should have a special mark/stamp in the run-out.

Wilson Pickett,oh Baby Don't You Weep
The Wand L.P has the same cover as the UK Marble Arch one. The original Double L USA L.P is a plain cover with no picture.

Help Please - Sam & Dave / Prince Buster
You're right Tony, same thing happened with Buster and Derrick Morgan after Morgan started recording for Beverley's (ran by a Chinese guy? Can't think of his name now but it led Buster to call Morgan a 'Black Head Chinaman' ) . Their running battle during the mid-sixties is well known...Buster slagging off Morgan on his Blue Beat output and Morgan doing the same on Island. A lot of it was tongue in cheek though I'm sure. I have seen your name mentioned a few times Tony so not surprised you know all about the dealings re- Pama etc....nice one!

Help Please - Sam & Dave / Prince Buster
Piece of information for Buster collectors....'Thirty Pieces Of Silver' on the Blue Beat release is a different cut than the Stateside release. Buster re-cut for Stateside using the name 'Judas Charmers' (as opposed to just 'Judas' on Blue Beat) as a swipe at fellow producer Llyod Charmers. Also released on pama's Unity label.

Help Please - Sam & Dave / Prince Buster
Think it was actually called 'Yeah, Yeah, Yeah' (...as in Marvin singing..."and I say yeah, yeah, yeah") and came out as the flip on another UK Blue Beat 45 (Eric Morris - 'The Greatest' ...I think). 100% right about the straight Blue Beat lettering on the 'first' UK Al Capone release. They used it again on Buster's 'Shanty Town' 45. The 70's UK re-presses came in about 3 different colours, I've seen light blue, green & buff colours.

Guess The Price Compititon Hytones Ebay
I bidded £31...that's it, I won't bid any higher, surely not worth £63???? The most outstanding thing about these litle beautys (Kent 100 Club Anniversary singles in general) is the fact that none (maybe just Carla Thomas?) are in the Record Collector Price Guide!!!! The price they fetch, you think they ought to be! I sent them a great article complete with scans and they didn't bother with it.

E.k. Bunch - Banana - Jay Boy
Not much different I don't think. I've had both in quantity over the years. It's fairly in-demand because it mentions 'Skinhead'.

Mill Evans
Me no miss no point I love 'Things Won't Be The Same' too Baz.
-
Customs Charges
Think the charges are for anything valued at $60 or over???. I've had 2 parcels recently, one had $60 on the customs form and the bastards charged me £13. The other had $50 and was ok. So I've come to the conclusion that anything either OVER $50 or $60?? Someone on here must know......

Mill Evans
Ahh, thanks for that, so he was a member at one time. The Tou-sea 45 was cut before he joined the group. Got it now
-
Mill Evans
Mill Evans rarity on Tou-Sea 'When I'm Ready' is also on the Esquires L.P ...exactly the same cut. As Mill was lead singer, they were obviously grooming him for a solo career and released these just under his name.

What Do You Think Of This?
Love the sax at the start! Rest sounds ever so much like 'Barefootin'. Great band!

St Lawrence Label Cock-up, I'm Shocked
The labels probably start off blank pink with just the globe and address at the bottom. Everything else in BLACK is then added on. Hence the not perfect line up of the word St.Lawrence which is in black like the credits. Just a thought????

Timebox
The Noel McCalla E.P has a date of 1980 on it....is it a 1980 recording??? (Great version of 'Shake Me, Wake Me on the E.P).

Servicemen
Not the Magicians on Chartmaker then?!!! Just to let you know, Servicemen 'Sweet Magic' came out a few years back on UK Grapevine. Ok if you collect UK stuff I suppose. (Backed with an unreleased track too!).
