  1. You're lucky mate! I too have have such a room, however since having a little soul-slider (2 years ago!) I aint allowed in there!!!
  2. Think this thread should have finished with Little Miss Soul having the last word.
  3. Nice one Sammy! Well said mate.
  4. Good instrumental (if I remember right??)
  5. Got a fast instrumental version in my collection somewhere but I can't remember who it's by.....somebody Nelson I think (NOT Sandy!) Let me know if you want me to look...can't do a sound clip though, sorry.
  6. 'Bell Bottom Blue Jeans' on Chess by Sonny (somebody, I can't remember his name?) was the original USA soul version that Symarip nicked 'Skinhead Girl' from!
  7. Thanks for that, he obviously loved the tune enough to re-cut it for this 1979 album.
  8. Just got an L.P, Terry Callier 'Turn You To Love' Elektra 1979. Cracking version of 'Ordinary Joe' obviously re-done version??? What year was the release on Cadet??? I know someone on here can help...
  9. He's done one!!! I offered him a couple of bits but no reply.....aliens I say.
  10. Say what you like about him, I know he's a bit sarcastic and all that....but he used to be a suedehead during the 70's and is into Northern Soul / Motown / ska & Reggae so that makes him ok in my book!
  11. More wants: I'm quite new in this business, is it possible to find these records for not sky-high prices? Lee Andrews - nevertheless Billy Hambric - She Said Goodbye Karl Evans - Do Wee Let It It Be Me Babe Adventurers - Easy Baby I saw Billy hambric on a grapevine reissue - is it not a shitty one? I mean the sound of a record. Thanx for answers Alexander
  12. You haven't got any copies of your records Mike? Unfortunately I don't have your release on U.S.A and a quick look on ebay proved in vain. I'm sure someone on here maybe able to help you out...??
  13. I heard Paul O'Grady say he was a Suedehead during the early 70's on his show once and that he's into Northern & Reggae. That makes him ok in my book!
  14. Always thought a record I owned by Terry Lindsey 'It's Over' (UK President) was WHITE and MALE!!! My mate's got the picture sleeve and SHE'S BLACK! Another I thought was a white guy was Paul Sindab, even included 'Do What You Wanna' on a Northern Soul CD I compiled by white artists, then saw a picture cover (E.P I think), doh!
  15. Re Dobie Gray: I know exactly what you were thinking pogo....'Drift Away' (his big hit) is such a white sounding m.o.r tune!!! During the 70's when I saw the singer of that song I was shocked!
  16. I disagree, most US dealers I know think its in sterling. You only have to go to a record show and see prices on records. At the recent Allentown show I asked a few dealers how they got to that price and they said "Its 50 pounds in Manships book, that makes it 100 dollars". I`m sure john wont mind me saying that most of the book is on the high side so if the record is only a £40 record anyway where do you start to negotiate on a record they want $100 for!? Ok, there are some exceptions and luckily most dealers do appreciate you need a deal after coming so far to buy records. What really pisses me off is when you get guys at soul nights or on here using the book as a bible and every price is from the guide regardless of condition or the fact they have no Tax, VAT or Import duty to pay. I know earlier editions did make reference to VAT being included in the price. I guess what pisses me off is not the book but the way people use it and interprate it. Chris.
  17. It's just typical American's really, they think the world evolves around them (we still love them though), so obviously an AMERICAN SOUL price guide is gonna be in dollars!
  18. Like I've said before...MOST of the Americans think the book is in dollars! I've had records from the States with scribbling on the sleeve saying things like...'manship's $150'... and when i've looked I see its John's actual (sterling) price!! Had quite a lot like this, especially off one seller in particular... So, John....don't EVER put a £ sign before your prices in the guides!!!
  19. Stuart Ames......white?? Are you sure? Hard to tell on this one. What about Solomon King....
  20. Obviously white, Motown(ish)?? Nice sound, I'm collecting the label and will look out for this one.
