Yeah! Backed with 'You Can't keep A Good Man Down'...2 cracking sides. Mine's a demo.
My red Carla issue of 'Just Another Girl / There Must Be A Reason' came from 'Soul Bowl' around 1986 for £25.....plays perfectly. I always thought the 'Just Another Girl' side sounded like the 'Three Caps' (Capitols).
Yes, featuring the 'Soul Brothers' who could be anyone really, so many groups with that name during the era!!!
Black or white....it's a 100% Northern Soul stormer!
Does anyone have any info on the group? There doesn't seem to be much documented on them, any other releases by them or even anything else on the 'Sorro' label?
I remember a brief outline of the 45 on an old 'Goldmine' CD and it was suggested that they were a white outfit? I'm not convinced of that, I think it's maybe just the name that sounds like they could be a 'garage' type group.
The flip is quite good too.
That's a tough one as I've seen it go for £150 +....
I found a copy about 15 years ago when it was unknown on a car boot in Wisbech for 10p (along with Donald Height 'Rags to Riches To Rags' on US Honey)....played it to a couple of well known collectors in the East Anglia region who really rated it and subsequently traded it for £60 worth. It took me a while to regain a copy and I was offered it twice at around the £150 mark, I couldn't believe my luck when I got a really good copy for £50 off ebay....and I was the only bidder!
Got to be at least a ton surely?
That is correct sir.
Think it's about £100/150 for the bottom one and another £100 or so for the top one. No matter, I would quite happily hand over £100 for the bottom one no problems, but I don't have to as I have it!
For my two-peneth worth, the top design is the first one I believe and the harder of the two to get. The bottom design was booted as Pete says. Nashville matrix on the bottom one will confirm it's a real copy.
I must also add, what a fantastic 45 this is! Flip is excellent too 'You'll See'. Superb Detroit tune that I have been asked to sell on numerous occasions.....but it ain't happening!

Love the Funk/Soul collector and listen to what he says at the end credit roll....pussy over records!!
Definitely, without a doubt the 'real' title has to be 'Suspicion' surely! I always thought that the 'Baby Have Mercy On Me' titled on the original acetate must have been a mistake??
There was another 'boot' doing the rounds on a look-a-like Motown 'Soul' label a few years ago, this has the instrumental on the flip (well, vocals removed!) which stops quite suddenly!
In fact, you got that wrong! It's actually.... "you can call me eneytime but for get after 10pm" which is of course the correct spelling and grammar for that sentence.
'Let The Music Play' by Roy Hamilton first showed itself on Kent's CD 'RCA - Rare Collectable & Soulful'. The Kent 45 is obviously the first vinyl release I would say.
Yes Chalky, I have the Fros Ray (flesh coloured label) 45. Flip is a nice ballad though, but obviously not as good as 'Can't No One Man'!
Still quoted as the same price as Invincibles in Manship's, maybe because the Soul Gents is the first???
There's so much to be covered, obviously it all depends if he has specific 45's in mind. Otherwise the only source that's documented regarding most of the Northern Soul 45s is to get a copy of John Manships 'Bootleg' guide (about £8)...or (more expensive) J.M's new Northern Soul Price Guide 2009 edition that incorporates the bootleg guide also.
If he has specific 45's in mind, then post them up on here where he will get good help sorting out the originals from the bootlegs.
Worth a punt of the more recent releases is Johnny Sayles 'I Can't Get Enough Of Your Love' for the previously unreleased gem 'Tell Me Where I Stand' on the flip!
Hi, I have e-mailed you. I have a lot of photos from that period. I was a Suedehead and my brother was a fully fledged Mod. A lot of the photos are in my file hosting page, I send you the address via e-mail.
John
