Marvin & Tammi - 'This Poor Heart Of Mine' (from 'Easy')...
...is this an alternate title of 'Only Your Love Can Save Me' (Marvelettes)?
Also, from the same album 'More, More, More'.
Only CDs I know of Ady's are the two 'RCA - Rare & Collectable' volumes that cover all the Pied Piper RCA stuff, released and unreleased. A third volume should be out soon (hopefully!!)
I've been championing this James Brown tune for a while now and mentioned it on here a few times with not that many people knowing it. It's on the 'I Can't Stand Myself When You Touch Me' (King) album.
Pure 1960's Northern Stormer all the way....didn't realise it was getting plays!!!!
Massive oldie that was a big tune back 'in the day'. The hook was sung to loudly "Betcha Gonna Break My Heart"....I love it!
Lou Roberts & The Marks also did 'You Fooled Me' which is great and a lot of people prefer!
Manship has 'Ten To One' @ £100 and 'You Fooled Me' @ £75.
Like I said both massive oldies.
This brings me onto the 'blue eyed' poser...? I often wondered if he/they were a blue eyed group. Anyone got any info or a photo?
So it wasn't actually gonna be released on a Shrine label then Ady? It was scheduled for Scepter? Or is it any of the untraced (if there is still any to be found) Shrine 45s.
Last time I looked, these were the missing/unfound Shrine numbers: 105, 116, 117
Just received Shrine 104 (UK recent release) The Cautions 'No Other Way / Fall Guy'.
Can't seem to find any reference to 'Fall Guy'....is this a previously unreleased track then?
Maybe Reg has seen something when he went round there, he keeps asking the same old question "are they scratched with tatty covers, please give me an honest answer"....perhaps he wants the seller to own up without actually saying it. Just a thought.
Had a discussion about these sleeves not so long ago, they seem to be the preferred choice for Reggae collectors whilst soul boys tend to lean more toward the white card sleeves. I always think of Reggae when I see these sleeves, even 'Trojan' use them in a lot of their art & designs for CD/L.P sleeves.
Mind, they are probably better at preserving a record as they have the poly lining thing going on.
Not really being much help am I
Brilliant pic Godz!! Looks like I was spot on with my assessment of the group, the female must have been the lead singer on the 'I Don't Love You No More' (Delphi 009) side, as I said before it's a great tune!
Delphi 009 - Prophets 'Don't You Think It's Time/I Don't Love You no More' also came out on Jubilee. Two great sides, main side is a male vocal whilst the brilliant flip is a female lead set just above mid-tempo and may be the pick of the two for some.
Not sure if this is the same group who recorded on Detroit's 'Stephanye' or indeed 'Shrine'. I know the lead singer was black (and the female) but the musicians were blue-eyed. They are the same group who recorded for Smash with the Northern oldie 'I Get The Fever'.
Good call that man!
Magnificent Men, Embers, Lost Soul, Soul Masters (Raven), Swinging Counts, Deadbeats, Dean Parrish....I could go on and on, all floor fillers, all quality rare soul.
Think you may be on about the black hexagon shape around the rim of the label Bri?
Anyway, here's my original copy, no 'raised x' but bell sound stamped both sides....
If Shirlie Matthews is a S.S thing why is it on the old Inferno L.P 'Mirwood the sound of swingin Hollywood' (Burn 1 - 1984) then? In the sleeve notes it boasts that Sherlie (yes, spelt with an e) is a Mirwood mainstay.
