  1. Sounded brilliant on that Culture Show programme last night!
  2. Enjoyed it but I'm not a baggy trouser fan. Some good tunes played, Turley Richards 'I Feel Alright' sounded great!
  3. MOST OF THE SKINHEAD TITLES WERE NOT KNOWN, IT WAS NOT UNTIL SOME OF THE YOUNGER KIDS WHO KEPT LISTENING TO REGGAE IN THE MID 7ts DISCOVERD THEM, AND THE MOD REVIVAL IN THE LATE 7ts WANTED THEM THAT A DEMAND TO OWN THEM COME ABOUT, Yes, you're dead right there. A Mod mate of mine from Cambridge had 'Skinhead Speaks...' (Hot Rod) off me after I picked it up in a second hand shop for 25p, he snapped my hand off to get it. This was around 1980/81. Years later I went round his house and managed to get it back plus some of the other 'Skinhead' titles for R&B records that he wanted off me.
  4. Yes, I have all the 'Skinhead' titles, including the Ackee blank 'Skinheads Are Wrecking The Town'. However, I know 'Skinhead Girl' came out on the LP but I've never seen a 45? Is the 45 on Trojan?
  5. When did Symarip - 'Skinhead Girl' come out on a 45? I bought a mint copy of Claudette on Grape from Glenn Henning for £30 around that time, possibly a year or so earlier.
  6. Just realised it was AM not PM....missed it. Can I hear it again anywhere?
  7. You can actually get it on a 'US' 45..... ....albeit a boot! Other side is 'I'm Not Built That Way'.
  8. SS104 fairly tough one to get and a corker!
  9. The first 'Soul Supply' single L.Ps that came out just prior to 'The Northern Soul Story' doubles were: 'That Driving Beat' SS101 'That Driving Beat' SS101 (alt cover, alt track listing) SS102 (?) 'Soulful Kinda Music' SS103 'The Untouchables' SS104 'The Modern Times' SS105 All these have tracks that then came out on the Northern Soul Story doubles (not sure of 102 as I don't have it unless they just changed the number on the SS101 alternative LP which is probably likely).
  10. I got some of mine from 'Andy's Records' in the high street. I got the first 3 'Soul Supply' single Lps then they started the double 'Northern Soul Story' and the first 2 volumes are fantastic gatefold sleeves with some terrific photos. A couple of the later ones had a poster inside. I'm pretty sure some of those double volumes have fetched £25 on the bay.
  11. I have one of his but not sure if it's this one, does this have 'Keep On Writing' on the flip? If so, I have one.
  12. I have a 'Superiors - Can't Make It Without You' MGM (BIEM - French/Belgium?). Wonder if it came with a picture sleeve? If so, anyone got a scan?
  13. Flip is 'I'll Never Turn My Back On You' Northern stomper.
  14. Me neither Pete, there could have been a better couple from that LP. Is Eddie Parker on Awake (70's press) the most sought after boot? (I have it but the fu....g postie's broke it in half, it still plays and it's held together by duct tape!)
  15. If Sugar Simone 'King Without a Throne' is in those numbers I have a copy for sale.
  16. I have a nice copy but it has a stain on the vinyl near the beginning causing a slight bit of noise for a few seconds. £15 + £2 postage You can phone me for a listen if you want. John
  17. I have Candi Staton 'Upper Hand' on one of those 70's acetates, had it years. Worth anything?
  18. Re- Traditions, I think it went for about £220 or something? Well, that's what it was on last time I looked. Are they a blue-eyed group?
  19. I don't think 'she' was too bright, the lyrics go... "someone copied your homework but you did it wrong girl"
  20. Doni Burdick sounds more 1967 than 1970?
  21. I see John was auctioning The Traditions 'My Life With You' (Bar-Clay) a couple of weeks back, how much did that go for? A great record which I paid about £10 for, always loved it. Blue-eyed group?
  22. desperate to get it in their box Ooh er missus. ...I'll get me coat
  23. I agree Pete, for me, the Desmond Riley 'Skinhead...' 45 is terrible, probably my least favourite out of that 10, Mike De Koningh loves it though! The Mohawks ain't much better either. I do like the Cimarons cookin' sound on some of the Hot Rod 45's, and as you say, Dandy's backing group The Rudies/Music Doctors are a great band. My real top 10 would consist of Prince Buster, Uniques, Bob Andy etc.
  24. 1. Skinhead Speaks His Mind - Hot Rod All Stars (Hot Rod) 2. Skinhead Revolt - Joe's All Stars (Joe) 3. Skinhead Train - Laurel Aitken (Nu-Beat) 4. Skinhead Moondust - Hot Rod All Stars (Torpedo) 5. Skinhead Train - The Charmers (Explosion) 6. Skinhead A Bash Them - Claudette (Grape) 7. Skinhead A Message To You - Desmond Riley (Downtown) 8. Skinheads Are Wrecking The Town - ? (Ackee blank) 9. Skinhead Invasion (Apollo 12) - Laurel Aitken (Nu Beat blank) 10.Skinhead Shuffle - The Mohawks (Pama) Not really my top ten, but I am a fan of late 60's/early 70's UK recorded Reggae especially the Cimarons stuff. I do have all the above on original 45's (bought them when nobody wanted them) and some are very tough to find. Not everyone's cup of tea, but for novelty/nostalgia value, lovely!
