i remember when the Silky Hargraves Dearborn re-issue/boots (whatever) were doing the rounds a couple of years ago, £30 to start with then they dwindled down to about a fiver!
I don't usually buy 78's but when I saw this lush piece of Doo-Wop in a charity shop for 50p I couldn't resist. Especially as there is no UK 45 release.
I have one on US Capitol (Northern) and another Northern dancer on Jamaican BMN. I also have their UK L.P on Doctor Bird which is mainly soul with one or two ska tracks....very rare.
Just saw an advert for a pressing of their 45 'You Should 'O Held On' and accompanying it was this photo...
So is this them? There are 7 of them and I presume that the guy in-between the females is Frankie Karl?
As promised in the PM Paul, here's a scan. Click to enlarge and have a good look at the vinyl.
EDIT: Obviously the vertical lines are the scanner and NOT on the record.
If you play the German & US release one after the other they sound almost identical except for the US version they have added a sort of 'live' atmosphere....
