  1. Have Infinity and possibly Invincibles. I'll have a search and get back ok.
  2. Thanks for that smudger, I'd say a decent little write up
  3. Presume you are talking about 'Happy' (now sitting at No.2). It does have a certain William Bell feel about it for sure.
  4. Some Northern Soul really does stand the test of time and would fit in a treat on some 20 year old's i-pod but there are some that can sound very dated indeed. There's nothing like a good raw soulful vocal and it is still used very much in today's music.
  5. I notice the 'Mod' look seems a bit trendy these days with young people and that goes back to the early 1960's!!!. I guess everything is trendy in it's own way, even 'geeky chic' like me I notice in your avatar that you are fairly young? so you will be more of a target for 'old fashioned' criticism by your young mates. I do know that Soul will always be trendy be it old or contemporary.
  6. Truth is, nowadays all the big traditional 60's Northern dancers are only really being discovered in the vaults on unreleased tapes then being released by the likes of Kent etc.
  7. Also another Northern dancer 'Time After Time'
  8. My missus got their album (sorry, CD) for Christmas off one of our daughters. I think they are a great band, the two tunes they played (performed on Jools' later show before) are great. The guitarist who's usually on the right pulls some right funny faces!
  9. Yeah, I picked up the 2nd one from a charity shop back in the very early 80's, I remember being well chuffed as it was probably the first time I saw something written about the original Skinheads apart from in my 2-Tone mags/fanzines.
  10. Nice track by Lisa Stanfield on Jools' Hootenanny last night. Lovely piece of Crossover/Northern played brilliantly by Jools' band.
  11. Top stuff Pete. The only one I didn't know was U Roy - Tom Drunk. I have the book.
  12. I remember buying the Terry Callier L.P with that track on it as a brand new piece of vinyl about 5 years ago in Fopp for £9.99, obviously a re-issue. This one...
  13. ....mind, it's wierd that Motown used the 'Inferno' logo on that realease, you'd have thought they'd just put the Volumes on Gordy or something. I mean Fantastic Four got put on Soul. Maybe they just liked the 'Inferno' name? EDIT: Is that the only Inferno release after Motown purchased them? It's the only one I've seen.
  14. Quite right too Chalky. The later Inferno release with the Motown address I featured in a Motown Compilation CD, the earlier red Inferno releases I wouldn't even think of it
  15. That's why I posted that particular Inferno release, it has 'Distributed By Motown Record Corp' on so I assume it can go into a Motown collection?
  16. Well Richard hasn't answered back yet....must be searching out those Motown treasures???
  17. Buttered Popcorn is surpassed by the flip 'Tell Me - The Vows'.
  18. Yeah, tell me about it. I have the L.p......bummer.
  19. Unfortunately, in the UK hooligans and black music have always gone hand in hand. Some 1980's Skinheads took it further and started preaching racism while ironically attending Soul/Ska/Reggae nights!!! DOH!!!
  20. Bobby Darin did a decent one on Motown...'Melody'
  21. I collect the albums too, UK & US. Think I got most of them. Rarest one I have is the Eddie Holland, followed by Marvin Gaye's first, Brenda Holloway (both), Miracles first, Temptations first, Monitors etc etc etc....
